Cats and writers seem to go together like peanut butter and jelly. Hello, I'm Al Riney. My students at Liberty Tech in Jackson Tennessee call me Mr. Riney. I've been a teacher there for nine years. Tech Life! But I never would have returned to college and finished my degree in teaching without the support and love of my wife Melanie. We made a fine looking son whom we are rearing toward adulthood in Gibson County Tennessee. Now, back to those cats. Although I have drafts for science fiction and fantasy in mind, my debut novel, Sergeant Pepper and Mister Paws, draws inspiration from our clutter (a.k.a. glaring, or clowder) of five cats. We tend to imprint our ideas of human personality on their already-richly developed attitudes. We call it "cattitude!" But truly, each cat has his or her own mind. Aggressive uniqueness is what they share in common. Mindy, Max, Mister Whiskers, Finnley and Oreo the Cookie Varmint all contributed to the characterizations of the principal cats in Sergeant Pepper and Mister Paws. Please read my debut novel and support awareness for animal rights, veterans' needs, and therapy companion animals. I'd love you to leave a review and tell me what you think! Al Riney
