Publisher's summary

A haunting and suspenseful novel about a woman who seems to have it all. An unexpected friendship (and more) shows her just how much she's been missing.

Eve Sumptor has it all. She's beautiful, wealthy, successful, and sexy. But she is haunted by a past that should have destroyed her. Unable to free herself emotionally, Eve keeps her personal relationships at an arm's length. Even if she secretly feels more than she wants to admit.

Lainey Stanton needs a change. She loves being a mother, but her marriage has become mundane. When her husband begins treating her like his mother instead of his wife, Lainey decides she needs to change. Going back to work - against her husband's wishes - is just what she needs.

When Lainey begins working for Eve at Sumptor Gallery, an unexpected and passionate friendship develops between the two women. Just as Eve is beginning to learn how to open herself up emotionally, her past catches up to her. Now she finds herself having to save the lives of those she loves, or lose everything she has worked so hard to achieve.

This is a unique and powerful story of two completely different women who, through fate, find each other and teach each other how to love.

Contains bisexual/lesbian sexual situations. Not appropriate for audiences under 18.

A story that keeps you guessing

This book is one of my favorites by this author. Jourdyn Kelly had no problem not going with the typical ending, leaving you to need more information. the story line flows nicely.

the trauma response by one of the main characters is very realistic. I love how the author pushes boundaries and solves problems.

What the hell

1. Long ass story, for what? For nothing. I’m annoyed.

2. The ending… ugh.

I was invested. That’s why my reaction. Take it with a grain of salt.

Love it!

Jourdyn is the kind of author that is not afraid to be bold in her stories, not following a traditional arc to surprise the reader with real reactions and fluid conversations between the characters, but is the passion in her writing that has me coming back for more stories, that kind of passion is the one that connects you whit everything.

The first time I read this book, I didn’t know how to express what I felt reading about Eve and Lainey, now I know I couldn’t because I felt part of the story, that’s the connection I want as a reader and not every author can achieve.

Make yourself a favor and read the complete story, not just this book, you won’t regret it and don’t leave it here, the LA series of her books won’t desepoint you.

Terrible people

The two main characters are awful. They both cheat on their significant others and bring the children into the betrayal. Then one of them refers to another woman as a “sl#t” for going on a date with one of the men being cheated on. Terrible people.
