Since Darwin's day, we've been told that sexual monogamy comes naturally to our species. This idea, once controversial, is now supported by science, and has become widely popular among therapists around the world. In Hold Me Tight, Dr. Sue Johnson presents Emotionally Focused Therapy to the general public for the first time. Johnson teaches that the way to save and enrich a relationship is to reestablish safe emotional connection and preserve the attachment bond.

The study of sexual physiology has been a paying career or a diverting sideline for scientists as far-ranging as Leonardo da Vinci and James Watson. The research has taken place behind the closed doors of laboratories, brothels, MRI centers, pig farms, sex-toy R&D labs, and Alfred Kinsey's attic.
Mary Roach, "The funniest science writer in the country", devoted the past two years to stepping behind those doors. In Bonk, Roach shows us how and why sexual arousal and orgasm can be so hard to achieve and what science is doing to slowly make the bedroom a more satisfying place.

This audiobook embraces birth as a rite of passage in which you open to the unbidden, embody your own wisdom, and gain freedom from limiting beliefs. Parents giving birth today do so within a society highly influenced by underlying ideals - including a need for control and certainty, vilification of pain, and reverence for intellectual knowledge and technology, among others. Dr. Bushnell brings clarity and awareness to these foundational ideals.

In this audiobook, you will learn that nearly everything that you've been led to believe about female sexuality isn't actually true. And that, despite what you might think, it is possible to simultaneously feel little to no spontaneous desire and have a happy and mutually satisfying sex life long term. Exploring the mismatch between ideas about sex in our society and what the science tells us, Mind the Gap also explains how this disconnect lies at the root of many of our sexual problems.

As women, we're expected to be sexy, but not sexual. We're bombarded with conflicting, shame-inducing, and disempowering messages about sex, instead of being encouraged to connect with our true sexual selves. Sexy gets reduced to a performance, leaving us with little to no space to reckon with the complexities of sexuality. In a culture intent on telling you who and how to be, standing in your truth is revolutionary.

There has been much debate over how we got here, and what to do next, and bestselling author and social psychologist Jonathan Haidt is at the white-hot center of that discourse. Haidt has spent his career speaking wisdom and truth into the most difficult landscapes—communities polarized by politics and religion, campuses battling culture wars, and now the perfect storm contributing to a public health emergency for Gen Z.

Story
Justin has a curse, and thanks to a Reddit thread, it's now all over the internet. Every woman he dates goes on to find their soul mate the second they break up. When a woman slides into his DMs with the same problem, they come up with a plan: They'll date each other and break up. Their curses will cancel each other’s out, and they’ll both go on to find the love of their lives. It’s a bonkers idea… and it just might work.

Story
Could humans unknowingly be a part of a larger superorganism—one with its own motivations and goals, one that is alive, and conscious, and has the power to shape the future of our species? This is the fascinating theory from author and futurist Byron Reese, who calls this human superorganism “Agora.” In We Are Agora, Reese starts by asking the question, “What is life and how did it form?” From there, he looks at how multicellular life came about, how consciousness emerged, and how other superorganisms in nature have formed.

Story
The conscious mind, the part of your mental life you experience directly, is responsible for only a tiny sliver of what science says is going on inside your brain. Most of what you experience, your moods, and the things you like or dislike—most of who you are—comes from a much more mysterious part of your mind: the unconscious. And to really understand the influences of the unconscious, says psychiatrist Daniel Z. Liberman, coauthor of The Molecule of More, we need to look to something often considered science’s alter ego: magic.

Each of us has a dual nature: we are light (conscious) and dark (unconscious). The dark side of our personality - the “other,” the shadow side - is made up of what we think is our primitive, primal, negative impulses - our “existential kink.” Our existential kink also drives the dark or negative repeating patterns in our life: always choosing the abusive partner or boss, settling for less, thinking that we’re undeserving, not worthy. But it also is the source of our greatest power.

This Book Should be Required Reading!
As a listener of the Shameless Sex podcast, I'm a little biased, but this book was incredible! Not only did the familiarity of Amy and April's voices make the book seem accessible, but the information was presented in a way that my younger self would have really benefited from. As they both have mentioned, this book would have been invaluable in my teens and 20s when information was scarce, the search was frowned upon, and blindly experimenting was questionable. I'm grateful, now, to have it in my 30s. During an era when books are scrutinized so harshly, I'm not sure this will make a required reading list for middle and high schools...but, damn, I wish it would for the sake of our future generations! Thank you, Amy and April, for making this an enjoyable listen. This is definitely a book I'm going to buy in print, give as gifts, and refer back to often. Happy (snail) trails! <3

Outstanding in every way
I’m a long time listener of the author’s podcast, and therefore not surprised that their book is excellent. Hearing their voices read their book brings a level of comfort and familiarity that is delightful. They are extremely knowledgeable and thorough, and yes, shameless. That said, they are also willing to be vulnerable in sharing the good, bad, and ugly parts of their life journeys that led to them being the authorities that they truly have become in the world of human sexuality and relationships. I wish I’d had this book 50 years ago. If I had, it might have prevented many of my less happy memories and made me a better lover, partner, and human. Better late than never, I listen and read the information April and Amy provide with gratitude and respect. They have earned their enormous fan-base by being very, very good at what they do while being absolutely charming and self-deprecating in the process. Congratulations, ladies, well done!
