I read this almost eight years ago after I’d already gotten up to date in the series and Sam and Nick’s encounter was always referenced without any details. Left to my imagination, it didn’t even come close to the reality in this story!

the narration…
I love Eva Kaminsky’s voice for Sam and she did justice to her more youthful version. I’m glad I chose to listen to this story the second time around because it made a difference.

the bottom line…
Since I’m rereading the series, it all feels new as it’s been over ten years since I first started. I like that it also feels like a clean slate and have this anticipation of what’s next for Sam and Nick. The encounter? They broke the thermometer.

It was very satisfying to read the story of how Sam and Nick met. We all knew how it happened as it was referenced many times in the Fatal Series but to know the detail was great. Thanks Marie!!!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Detective Sam Holland is used to meeting her father at O’Leary’s Bar after a long day at work and discussing cases but this particular night she has to keep it to one beer. She’s agreed to go with her sister to a party although it’s really not something she wants to do. But she puts on a short skirt, heels and finds a corner to occupy. After getting doused accidentally by a beer, a starched white handkerchief appears and she meets Nick Cappuano. Sparks fly and steam follows.

A sexy and steamy story that fans of the Fatal series have been clamoring for.
🎧 I have a copy of this included in the paperback of Fatal Affair (2016) but I also purchased an audiobook version and listened to the performance by Eva Kaminsky who does a phenomenal performance. Whew. Hot and spicy! You can’t help sweating along.
Fans of the series will especially love this novella but it can be read as a stand-alone as well. With hints of the job and recurring characters, it’s a back ground filler that shouldn’t be missed.
