I'm a huge fan of Janae's work, and this story is no different. This heartfelt story pulls at all your heartstrings. The narrator was absolutely perfect!

This is the first time I’ve read this author and I throughly enjoyed the story. I think the only thing that kept me from giving it a five was the lack of tying up the loose ends for the side plots. To mention that her sexual assault affected her the way that it did, introduce the rapist on the page and then poof, no word on whether he got his just desserts was just...🤨🤨🤨 that was just mind boggling for me.

Also I felt like there are a lot of bdsm references and culture in it without giving it a name and for people who don’t know how to catch the clues hearing a grown woman call someone Daddy with no explanation during sex is a decent clue. I think that turned other readers off. I didn’t mind it so much but I think it should have been stated such because it would’ve given better context to people who’ve never dabbled in the life before. Their sex scenes were enjoyable and the hero seemed to love Vanessa and all the women around him. I think Josiah was a great hero but Vanessa was sometimes just an okay heroine. I’m glad she turned around but it took so long for her to.

Also I read this via audiobook and I wasn’t sure about the narrator at first but he grew on me. Would definitely read from the narrator again!

Tropes used: Fake engagement, friends to lovers, scars, accidental pregnancy all of which I enjoy.
