Publisher's summary

Monster. Liar. Thief. Killer.

I’ve been called it all and so much worse.

And they’re not wrong.

I’ve been running my whole life. Hiding from the monsters who haunt my dreams and who will tear me apart again and again if they ever find me. I live off whatever I can steal, trapped inside a fae prison city filled with pollution, sin and poverty. Humans have captured the Fae.

We belong to them now.

My scars make me a bad omen to my people, who shun and torment me at every turn.

Cyrus, the egotistical and frustratingly gorgeous leader of the fae under-city, can’t seem to decide whether he wants to kill me or claim me for his own dark and delicious desires.

And Reid, a dangerous and hypnotically beautiful human Authority Agent whose sole purpose should be to keep me in the dirt, has decided to keep me as his own personal Pet instead.

But when dark, demonic creatures start attacking, killing human and Fae alike, alliances must be made, especially when the monsters seem to be determined to find and slaughter me.

A dormant war is awakening, and the part I must play in it is only just becoming clear.

Do I stand and fight? Or do I strike the match and watch them all burn?

Lies of the Fae is book 1 in “The Stolen Fae series”. It’s a dark, urban-fantasy romance full of magic, danger, passion, and pain.

*Please Note: This is a dark MFM romance book and contains explicit content and darker elements. It is not intended for anyone under 18 years of age. For full list of triggers, please check the author's website.

Lawrie Kills it Again

Narrated beautifully. This story is not for the faint of heart. Definitely check authors trigger warnings. This is an incredible story that I blew through in 2 days. Dark and twisted our main character is incredibly well written and strong. The scenes are woven perfectly and story is fraught with tension. I will buy any new book from Lawrie without even reading a single review. She is incredible.

WOW FIVE STARS

This book was amazing! If you like Fae stories, yes I'm talking ACOTAR, but wish it were darker - this book is for you. The plot was utterly unique, the story was fast-paced, and the the world-building was incredible. I enjoyed every piece of narration, and I swear the last 20 or so chapters were a fever dream of chaotic brilliance. Run, do not walk, to this audio. Amazing.

M.J Lawrie is a intense writer

This is one of my new favorite authors. I fell in love with her works with The Last Witch trilogy. I have held back from reading her other books because I am not a huge RH romance fan (multiple lovers). But surprisingly this one did not put me off. This book was a lot of story and limited steam. I am sure that will change in the second book. As for the FMC well she got on my nerves so many times with her whine yelling but that may have been more inhanced by the narrator. I liked the voices she used except for the Main Female lead. IDK why it was like nails down a chalkboard to me but it was. I am not saying the narrator is awful. I enjoyed her all except for Raven's voice especially when she was yelling or complaining. I will go on to read the series and not use audible. The story is that good. But it is DARK. Most of the book is lets say all Bad Luck. Like constant. Without giving spoilers Girl could use a break. But then again how good can a story be if everything is going well, Right. I do wish some of these RH books gave a number as to how many lovers. I'd probably read more of them if it's only two. Because there are a lot of good books out there but I am not into the 3 or more lovers at the same time. I get some people love that. I do not. But I can handle two. Seems more possible as well. Lol I know it's fantasy but I like to keep it real slightly in my head. Guess in real life my limit would be two not that I've ever. But that would definitely be pushing my limits. Glad most of the book is intense story. And beware of triggers especially forced intercourse which seems to nice of a word just did not want to type in the R word.
All that aside I can not wait to read the second. This book is perfect for those who love dark romance with a capital D. If you enjoy Amelia Hutchins then you should enjoy M.J Lawrie. I usually refer people to M.J when they ask suggestions in Amelia's groups. I have a very few to actually suggest that is as intense as Amelia but my number one is definitely M.J Lawrie. Thank You for the ride M.J keep on with your awesomeness. And again the narrator was good don't get me wrong. Loved the accent and every other voice she used except FMC. And it's probably just me.

Love the book and the audio

I was a huge fan of this series prior to the audio release. So, when I found out the audio was done, I was ecstatic. Although I’m usually a fan of only dual or full cast narration, I totally understand the cost for indie authors. The narrator did a fantastic job of this book even on her own. It was a great book and I’ll def be listening to this audio more than once. Highly recommend.

NOTE** this book is a DARK fantasy romance. There are scenes that might cause some issues. Listen with caution.

Dark and lustful

Like any good MJL book it starts with Raven having a very tragic backstory, but Strong overall resolve to protect those that she cares about. MJL always writes very fierce women. It’s dark, triggering, and with intense sexual desire among the main characters. overall frustrating to read, because she is known to have the best cliff hangers. captivating into the last page, the last words and of course, that voice actor is AMAZING!!!
