I have listened to a few of Sara Field's books, and if you know her books- you know there is typically a lot of sexy time, and most of those times are very dominating and rough. Sometimes I have just fast forward past those scenes. If you have heard one- you get the point. I could see how some scenes could even be triggering to some. However, her storylines have substance that you don't want to miss. There's magical creatures galore, battle scenes, and mystical elements a long with the actual romance part between the main characters that are a bit Beauty and the Beast-ish. I really enjoyed this one and look forward to the next one.

Repetitive scenes way too similar to others in series. Same words over and over again. Honestly the female narrator killed it for me.

FMC sex scenes were absolutely annoying and even stressful!!! Geez!!!!! I love a spicy scene as much as the next gal, but wow, who can even figure out what’s going on with the annoying female narration 🙄
If you are looking for some kind of story here, don’t bother. Barely a plot. I tried to stick it out until the end but I quit with 2 hours left. I’m mad I even stuck it out that long. If all you want are sex scenes then maybe you will like it, but the chick is soooooo annoying that she ruins even that. I do not recommend. 🤷🏻‍♀️

The story is good but the performance makes it 🔥🔥🔥🔥. The smokey male voice is spot on but the female gives her all especially during erotic or emotional scenes.

This book is about 90% spicy open door scenes that deliver powerful climaxes, sizzling smacks, and powerful possessive vibes. There were some lines that were so over the top it actually got a giggle out of me, which I love!!

The plot is almost non-existent, but still interesting enough. Not sure if I'll venture into the rest of the series quite yet, but definitely an entertaining and low-stress listen.

Performances are as good as to be expected. I have yet to hear a female narrator that has a somewhat believable and non-comical male voice.

This was a beautiful and interesting love story and as expected from Sara Fields there was plenty of super sexy spice!! 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ 🤭 The narrators did a great job 👏 I enjoy Sara Fields writing style and I’m looking forward to reading/listening to the rest of this series.

Gosh, this was SO close to being a 5 star steamy success.

A couple things that immediately knocked off a star:


The King completely abandoned her after losing his temper and kicking the FMC out of his kingdom. Okay, I’m still listening, bring on the drama. She’s thrown into enemy hands and dragged to the even worse enemy leader.

BUT then when the king’s head mysteriously comes out of his butt, he doesn’t grovel nearly enough. His action of leaving his mate completely vulnerable had her immediately thrust into the hands of the enemy where she was starved and dehydrated for almost a week of travel. But that’s not what knocked off the star. What did it was the complete LACK of groveling after he gets her back and the fact that the FMC immediately forgave him. Like…..what? That was BEYOND frustrating. Make him work for it, he did her SO wrong! We needed an entire chapter of intense groveling, not just a basic cheap apology.

Then…THENNN after said days of being abandoned by her man, being captured by the enemy, days of travel, neglect, no baths, no food, no water, and a brutal war scene (where she’s mysteriously and suddenly a talented warrior? Half a star knocked off for that) she’s swept away by the dumb-temper-tantrum-King and IMMEDIATELY ravished. Girl…. you ain’t thirsty? You ain’t wanna take a quick shower and scrub off that ripe smell? Maybe even eat some crackers and get your blood sugar up?
Like I get this is fantasy world but it’s the ravishing after you done been imprisoned and wore that sweaty armor in a bloody/sweaty battle that just had me scrunching up my face in an ick!

After those, the book immediately dropped a couple pegs which is unfortunate because I was totally into this story!

I know a lot of reviews nag about the narrator but I thought she was AMAZING. She truly voice-acted and didn’t simply read her lines. Both narrators truly did amazing.
