The Sadist

Jean-Paul “JP” Dubois, assistant to the deputy mayor, was given the task of pushing Max Kalinski to the breaking point. The end game: get Max to quit working at city hall. The simple assignment turns into something deeper when JP learns Max is different than everyone assumed. He’s a complex man who has been taught all the wrong lessons - not simply a spoiled brat. JP knows he shouldn’t be the one to do it, but Max is in need of a strong man to help him right his wrongs.

The Extortionist

Friendless and virginity sadly intact, Max is ready to find his place in the sun - even if he has to steal it. After he takes an attempt at blackmail too far, he feels guilty for how he acted toward the deputy mayor. When Max is left with no choice except to move in with JP temporarily, he learns his supervisor isn’t what he’d imagined. An unexplored yearning inside of Max comes out to play, and he wants nothing more than for JP to be the firm hand that guides him. JP accepts Max’s quirks, including his undiagnosed OCD, and brings out the best parts of him.

All the Wrong Decisions

Their work life puts a damper on what could be. JP knows they can’t be together, and his loyalty lies with his boss. Finding Max another Daddy is the logical decision. The problem? Max only wants JP. As they deny what they really need, both men must get through their nine-to-five hours as though they don’t burn for each other, but at what personal cost?

Fabulous

I became a fan of this narrator in previous works. When you read the story it’s awesome add in the voice and it’s a new level of wow.

Loved it!!

I liked the eBook. I loved the audiobook! Because nothing is as it originally appears in New Gothenburg, Max, who seemed like such a twerp in Staking His Claim, turns out to be a confused, emotionally abused, sweetheart and JP, capable assistant to Deputy Mayor Elwood, is the perfect Daddy Dom to help Max get his life together. This is a fun story with plenty of twists and turns and the narration is excellent!

Wonderful redemption romance! Love Max so much!

I love a good redemption romance and seeing Max, a former antagonist, in this new light was amazing. He is so unexpectedly vulnerable and so deserving of love and care. To have JP, of all people, be the one to bring that to him and understand who Max truly is, at his core, was just such a thrill! There are so many sparks and heartfelt emotions between these two. It's not easy for them to get to their HEA, as they do have a little bit of Shakespearean vibes going on to further complicate their enemies-to-lovers romance.

Narration: Curtis Michael's performance was brilliant. I really enjoyed listening to his take on the MCs and secondary characters.

Denial

When Maxwell blackmails his way to working in the office of the deputy mayor, he never thought about what it would cost or who it hurt. He may be working in the office, but the men are not happy and are determined to get rid of him, especially Jean-Paul. When Jean-Paul finds out about Max’s problems he surprises both himself and Max and decides to help.

I was surprised at how well the authors turned Max into a someone we would want to care for. When we met him in the previous story, he was an angry and spiteful man but, in this story, we get to see the real Max and why he is the way he is. Family is not something Max could rely on but with Jean-Paul’s help Max finds a new family and friends. As the two men work through their own feelings there is still work and politics to be handled. Max learns a lot about himself and with the help of Jean – Paul things just might get better. Feelings and morals are tested throughout this story. I loved seeing the real side of Jean-Paul and Max. There are things that each man must work through, and we see that not everyone is perfect, not even Jean-Paul. Narrator Curtis Michael does a nice job of bringing out the emotions in these characters and keeping the story flowing.

You Cannot Deny Love!

This book was fantastic on Audio! this Narrator really brought JP to life I have to say! Love the way he says ""Boy" as JP, and then "Yes Daddy" as Max!! Perfect! So the first half of this book these two are annoying and so in Denial about everything.. LOL.. That is what I liked most about this story, both characters have real flaws and real strengths, but neither of them is a perfect person at all! But you cannot help but grow to love them and route for all the changes they bring in each other.. Max's OCD is so amusing.. "still thinking about rearranging the library..".. and the way JP just automatically accepts and adjusts to it is precious. If you love a story about realistic and raw characters that can still be sweet and supportive this one is for you! Steamy times for this Daddy and his Boy! Also there is a quite a bit of the BDSM Scene - Boy and Daddy.. but No Age Play!! I enjoyed the quirky cast of oddball side characters!! Loved seeing Harley Kitty again too!!! The Audio is the way to go for this one too! ENJOY!

Great Story

Max was such a weasel in the. previous book. He continues to be out of touch in his relationships of dealing with people, although there are hidden reasons for actions. His job under JP is the most miserable as he could imagine. this story reveals Max's inner thinking of why he can't grow. JP needs to see the true Max. I really loved the way the relationship evolved and all the action in between

Changing preconceptions

This book starts more or less where Staking His Claim left off.
Only thing is, we get to see the story of a different couple.
Max came off as an arrogant, entitled somebody who liked to throw his family name around.
When he gets put under JPs watchful eye, JP realizes there is more to Max than meets the surface. And thus being a journey of discovery and love for them both.

A riveting tale about changing preconceptions as we get to understand Max and his underlying issues better.
We have a wonderful Daddy/boy relationship that forms with D/s elements, the realization of one's true worth and the shenanigans of the mayor's office never fails to disappoint.

The narration was done quite well and each character was easily discernible with an authenticity that lasted throughout this long tale.

Great addition to series

I really despised Maxwell in the first book, which I think we were meant to dislike him just so we could fall for him in this one. Sometimes characters are so awful you think there is nothing you could read to change your mind and then you read the next installment and you wonder why you disliked them.

Now Max is working in the deputy mayors office after blackmailing them to get his foot in the door. Jean Paul has been tasked with making his job miserable so he will quit and regret ever messing with them. Along the way Maxwell is found to be living in the office after a tiff with his family and Jean Paul starts to see things are not as they appear. He soon realizes Max has issues and he wants to try and lead him to help. Once he figures it all out can Jean Paul release Max to another man to "fix" him? Can Jean Paul continue to work with him or does he decide to try and make him quit has was the initial plan.

Sad that at 14 hours I need more... so so SO good.

Loved the narrator. There is nothing he does to stick out he just reads it perfectly and changes for all the characters no matter age, sex or anything else.

Can not wait for more of all of these books.

Steamy… but the story, meh

Quite illustrating. If you don’t know anything about BDSM, this will introduce you. However, the story is… actually, there is no story 😅
