My favorite of the series.

I like my romances the way I like my snacks: sweet and salty. Kira and Aehako’s story has the right balance of all the things I love about this campy big blue alien romantic series. Some of the later books dwell too much on angsty back stories or the ladies are too mean or resistant to looking at being stranded on alien ice planet Not Hoth with a glass half full attitude.

Here, although Kira is worried that her inability to have kids will get her cast out by the Sakui, Aehako’s flirty, optimism easily overcomes her angst. There’s plenty of humor and sass as Aehako sets about courting “sad eyes” Kira. I like the additional interactions between the humans, especially Liz (sassy Liz, I like her better with each book). I also like the addition of Sakui family members to build in relationships other than just couples. And this book has more action, and doesn’t just let the males be the heroes. As much as I love a good alpha male romance, I love even more when big, sexy blue-suede beasts are matched by strong, fierce ladies. Nice, naughty, and noble. Yum.

This was a fun trip into the world of ice barbarians and the beginning bit with the alien dildo makes it my favorite. I’m so glad that paid off from the last book

honestly, these books keep getting better and better with each one. I think this one is my favorite so far

Kira and Aehako! My favorite couple so far. She’s shy and quiet. He’s outgoing and good humored. They’re a perfect Yin/Yang match. There’s some great action in this one. Kira is a brave bada$$ lady who comes into her own as she’s rises to meet her challenges head on. Her determination to fight for the tribe’s well being and her willingness for self-sacrifice, despite her fear and terror, impressed me. She was loving and noble. But she also fought for her own happiness, placing value on her own life, as well. Aehako was right there to support and love her, and also willing to make sacrifices of his own for her happiness, protection, and well being. Although it must be said, she protected herself— and him!— really well. The narration was fantastic. A great listen all around. Highly recommend!
