Leanne Cartwright-Bradford is Audible’s Head of Asia-Pacific (APAC), leading our service for Australia, India, and Japan. She joined our Australian team as a marketing director in 2016, bringing with her a background heading up marketing strategies for Amazon, as well as major entertainment companies, then in 2018 became the country manager for Audible’s service in Australia. As Head of APAC since 2021, she has overseen many exciting milestones as we create and produce more multilingual content that spans cultures and countries: Audible’s first dual-country, dual-language series, Desi Down Under, which was released in India and Australia, in both Hindi and English; and the exclusive launch of Marvel's Wastelanders: Star-Lord for our audiences in India and Japan (the series has also been released in France, Italy, and Germany). She shares more details about her work here, including why constraints make her more creative, and why it’s important for her to work with a company that’s aligned with her values.

What is something you believe is essential to succeeding as a leader?

First of all, knowing who you are and what you believe in. When you have “true north” defined for yourself, then you can go on and lead other people. This means knowing your values and making sure that you are working for an organization that is aligned to them.

What do you like best about your work?

It’s important to work for a business where I would gladly be a customer. I genuinely love listening to Audible, so I love the content and experience that we give our customers. I love the people I work with—some of the smartest, kindest, funniest, most terrible karaoke singers out there.

As a leader, what’s your super power?

I like solving problems. I like thinking of creative solutions and, oddly, I like working within constraints as they fuel creativity. I love this book, A Beautiful Constraint, which explains this idea in more detail.

If you could travel back in time, where would you land?

In Regency England, so I could take a turn about the room, obviously.

If we made an Audible Original about your life, what would the title be?

Football in the Living Room: How Two Children Drove Their Parents Mad.
