Audible today announced a new slate of Audible Original theater titles, debuting exclusively on Audible on June 2, 2022. These releases continue to deliver the theater experience to a wider audience, through audio.

First performed live at the Minetta Lane Theatre, Audible’s home for live entertainment in New York City, is Tony Award-nominated director Robert O'Hara’s Long Day’s Journey into Night. This reimagining of the classic Eugene O’Neill play creates a provocative exploration of addiction and mental health modernized for pandemic-era life. Recorded live at the Minetta Lane Theatre, You Are Here: An Evening with Solea Pfeiffer is an enchanting musical experience. Zimbabwe-born Pfeiffer, who has received acclaim for work in Hamilton, Evita, and more, weaves together pieces from her most unforgettable roles. Previously announced with the stage performance, Jade Anouka’s HEART takes listeners on a powerful and relatable journey of self-discovery. Finally, The Cube from OBIE Award-winning playwright Adam Rapp is a riveting and immersive audio-only play that tackles issues of race, privilege, and cultural blindness.

“Audible Theater is uniquely suited to take risks with shows, bringing new ideas to both the stage and audio,” said Kate Navin, Head of Audible Theater. “This varied slate exemplifies our commitment to experimentation, offering listeners everything from Robert O'Hara’s experimental retelling of a beloved show, to Solea Pfeiffer’s live one-woman original performance. It brings West End star Jade Anouka to audiences globally, and gives Adam Rapp’s brilliant audio-first play a home at Audible, where it can reach theater fans everywhere.”

As she begins the process of piecing her life together, she confronts the insecurities and self-imposed boundaries that have always held her back. In the process, she discovers love in the last place—and with the last person—she expected. Directed by Ola Ince, this world premiere production—dedicated to the misfits and “others”—takes listeners on a powerful and relatable journey, one that demonstrates that remarkable things can happen when we follow our instincts and boldly take a chance. Original music composed and performed by Renell Shaw. Additional original music and sound design by Fitz Patton. The Audible Original HEART was previously announced alongside the stage performance at Audible’s Minetta Lane Theatre, running July 17 through August 14.

The Cube (Cast: Carla Gugino and Juliana Canfield)

An invitation to a mysterious theatrical performance changes the lives of two women in Adam Rapp’s riveting new audio play The Cube. Magda, an upper-class White woman, is shocked to the core by what she sees—and questions her complicity. Ruth, a Black woman who played a role in the show, is thrilled to be part of it—until she discovers her performance is all too convincing. A visceral and truly immersive audio experience that tackles issues of race, privilege, and cultural blindness.
