I ATE LIKE IT WAS THANKSGIVING If you buy this and you know you will, then you have to stick with it. It had it's ups and downs and some very low ..Show More »downs, but toward the end, you will start to get it. This is a thinking person's vampire series. I AM A VEMPIRE, VEM PIE RR. It gets a little political and at first I wanted to flee, but despite my A.D.D., my brain started to churn. People start turning into vampires and at first, I thought what is the problem, kill them all. As you will learn, vampires come in all different types and many do not kill. In reality you could replace vampire with Muslim. Some Muslims are terrorist, but most are not. Add to this dilemma, the randomness in which certain people change. Your wife, husband, children or parents could become vampires. It becomes a lot more complicated then you would originally expect. HE LOOKED LIKE HE COULD BENCH PRESS NEW JERSEY.

As the headline suggests, I greatly enjoyed this sequel as the tone of the stories have shifted and we finally begin the see the emergence of the actu..Show More »al vampire war. Some readers complained that there was no war to speak of in the first book but there was a good reason for that: the authors had to build up to that & I hope said readers come back and give this sequel a chance.
PROS: - Awesome cast of returning voice actors that did a fantastic job and really pulled you into this vastly divergent world. - Some truly memorable and highly-entertaining stories such as my favourite, "The Hippo" by Scott Sigler - I could listen to Harry & Big Baby all day! :) Another worthy mention is James A. Moore's continuing story of the Triad enforcer that is both hilarious and a welcome change of pace from some of the darker and grittier stories that encompass this book. - An authentic feel to the various responses by the world's governments to the vampire threat: I could see this happening in real life if something like this were ever to happen. And this continues to be a strong selling point for me: Jonathan Maberry and the ensemble of excellent authors have truly managed to craft a believable world grounded in as much science and realism as possible, making the events that unfold even more chilling.
CONS: - I hated, absolutely hated the druergar story (sorry I forget the title and author) as I was appalled by the the horrific treatment that the main character's innocent wife and one daughter are subjected to. I understand that horrible things happen to good people everyday and I'm (mostly) fine with such depictions as long as they make sense within the narrative and don't feel tacked on and aren't overly graphic. However I feel that the level of savagery and barbarism depicted in said story utterly removes any semblance of enjoyment that could be derived from it, or at least that's how I felt - you're welcome to pick this audiobook up and judge for yourself. I just wanted to give all you potential listeners a fair warning :)

Read It Rate It Thoughts: This is the second set of V-Wars stories that I have listened too and I am fascinated by them. This one particularly delved into the different types of "V's" and that appealed to the history lover in me (great cultural and ethnic tie-ins). The stories are well paced and lace together pretty seamlessly. I think fans of fringe science will particularly like it because there is a lot of little intricacies explored in the types of V's. Also fans of stories like World War Z will love it because of the broad spectrum of little stories all connected. Overall this is quickly becoming a not miss for me.
Narrated by: full cast, Cassandra Campbell, Gabrielle de Cuir, Richard Gilliland, Jamye Grant, Stephen Hoye, Alex Hyde-White / Length: 15 hrs and 36 mins
This is a DO NOT MISS on audio type of performance. Each narrator nailed their parts and worked together really well. I love full-cast recordings because it feels more like an old radio show. This group worked well together and really brought the stories alive.
