Publisher's summary

This is not your daughter’s unicorn. No glittery pink stuffed animal. No.

The Red Unicorn means certain death...

Expat American Vietnam War vet Amboy Stevens wants nothing more than to live in peace in 1982 Argentina. But with the Falklands War raging, he is forced to protect a fellow six-fingered American girl who has lost her memory.

They stumble upon a myth as ancient as humanity itself and are soon on the run from warlocks, Nazi treasure hunters, the cult of the unicorn, and sorcerers who want the pair for their own nefarious reasons.

From Buenos Aires to the Island at the End of the World, they are chased, harassed, possessed, attacked, and beleaguered.

Worse, the Red Unicorn is near. If they hope to survive, they'll need to work together. Because their meeting wasn’t accidental. It's been predicted ever since they were born, their six-fingered hands an interlocking symbol that no one else can replicate.

From the author of SEAL Team 666 and Bone Chase comes this new amazing supernatural thriller that begins where Bruce Chatwin’s In Patagonia left off.

Critic reviews

"Though the scope and nature of the book is chilling and horrific he kind of makes the reading into a little vacation. Well done!"—Robert McCammon, New York Times bestselling author

So surprising.

New author to me but Porter brought me to this listen. I am now a fan. This is such intricate story telling with visceral prose that I am pulling this author's books from my wishlist and putting them in my catalog.

Romeo's got nothin' on Amboy in this is a wickedly charming, dark, and intriguing fairytale.

Thanks Ray!

Interesting and enjoyable read

I love a good "not exactly happy" ending. Weston is a personal favorite author of mine and Ray as narrator really brought the characters to life.

It's a very dark tale.

Wow, wow, wow. There's a lot to unwrap in this dark tale. It's also an alternate history with lots of historical references even including a book by Bruce Chatwin, lending to the believability to the story. Yes I was mesmerized by this book. And also there's the magic touch of Ray Porters vocal powers. But yet I did not like the story or the outcome.
So grab the book if you must, just remember I warned you!

Here some quotes that I liked.

"It was like a landslide of hard syllables." ..."That's pretty much German is."

"No that was not a lie. He didn't enjoy killing, he enjoyed revenging if that was even a word."

"It hasn't had a hitch in it's giddy-up yet."

Awesome in every sense of the word

I've never heard of this author before but was browsing Ray Porter narrated titles because, Ray Porter. I had skipped this book multiple times over the last few months mainly because I was judging by the cover and title--which was a big mistake. If you're into the occult and a bit of the old ultra-violence, this book is for you. As usual, Ray Porter knocks it out of the park. I'm going to be digging more into this author to see if this engrossing work was a one-off. And even if it was...well done Mr. Ochse

Not Ray-worthy.

Ray Porter can make soup can label interesting. He even made this weird thing tolerable to the very end. An end that was creepy and unrewarding.
