When I read the description I was curious as to how a Rock Star would be involved with kidnapping women to be sex slaves. We do find out the connecti..Show More »on but I still had a hard time dealing with how Logan treated Emily. It's obvious that he treats her different when they're alone then when she's put on sex slave display.
Emily is a strong willed woman and she endures many punishments because of this: - being whipped - kicked in stomach, side, head - drug by hair - sexually violated just to name a few
I'm not giving anything away but I will give you a few quotes from the first two chapters:
"I ended up having to pee in the corner of the room. I never felt so dirty in all my life. I felt like an animal and I sobbed as I did it. It was humiliating."
"’Logan’s voice swam into my trembling body and wrapped me into it’s warmth I started sobbing...Logan had come for me he’s here to take me away to stop the pain."
Emily is let down from the ceiling and falls to the floor. She looks over her shoulder for Logan, "When I saw him my heart stopped for a few seconds then started beating erratically it was him but nothing in his eyes was the man I knew he was cold and expressionless as he starred down at me not a glimmer of sympathy in his eyes. I recognized nothing of the man I had fallen in love with, hope died as the realization hit me he was part of this he did this to me."
Man-O-Man now you know why this book sucks you in and doesn't let go.
Mackenzie Harte gave a profound performance. My first book by Nashoda Rose but it most certainly will not be my last.
Kat is Emily's, from book 1, best friend. While Emily and Logan are away Kat and Ream work together on the horse farm and become friends and hookup f..Show More »or a weekend. Ream doesn't do repeats and he never let's a woman suck him. He does all this with Kat and wonders what is so different about her. He starts thinking he can make her bend to his will. Ream believes there's an ease between them they click.
When Kat goes to the bathroom Ream enters a few minutes later and catches Kat with a syringe. He thinks she's shooting up illegal drugs and blows up. Kat explains to him she has a medical condition that she keeps hide from her friends.
Ream grew up with a drug addict mother, no father. Ream's past interferes with his thoughts of a possible relationship with Kat.
This book delves into Ream's past. There's a shooting and kidnapping. Lot's of twists, turns, excitement and suspense.
J.F. Harding and Kate Russell give a great performance.
I’m going to keep this review fairly short. I know I’ve said that before, but this time, I mean it.
To start off, I have to say that Nashoda ..Show More »Rose is definitely becoming one of my favourite authors. Her style of writing, depth and character development really appeals to me. I haven’t read a book from this series in a while and I was worried that I would struggle to remember what was going on. That worry was put to rest pretty quickly. What I thought I’d struggle with, came back relatively quickly. The characters are hard to forget. The pain they’ve survived and the happiness they found or are working towards makes it easy to pick up and follow along.
Now, to be honest, I think I made a mistake. I should have read this story instead of listening to it. It’s hard to explain. The story is great and the audio is great but I think that some of the overwhelming feelings I normally get when reading myself, was missing. Sure, I still squirmed, giggled, gasped and shuddered but I think if I’d read it, it would have been even more of an experience.
I actually bought this in audio form because I’m a huge fan of Stella Bloom as a narrator. She does a great job again. Now, Kas Vadim, he does a great job too…but, I think I struggle with a guy doing a girls voice. I know that seems mean, sexist and judgemental, but a female dropping her voice to do the male comes through better (for me) than vice verse.
Now, story-wise…oh boy, oh boy, oh boy. You really have to toughen up for this one. I found listening to a scene with graphic violence, especially the one in this book, had me physically reacting. Yep, on the train…AGAIN. I swear my fellow passengers must think there is something wrong with me. My body jumped, my face scrunched up and I even said (out loud) Ewww. Just a wee bit embarrassing.
Shattered By You is not an easy story to enjoy. The pain, abuse and suffering that was experienced by Haven is not something you’d wish on your worst enemy. The fact that it happened when she was really young makes it even more horrific. Luckily, waiting on the other side is Crisis. He holds the glue and sticky tape to help her put herself back together. It’s a long process and all the gang from Tear Asunder, including Haven’s twin Ream, come together with their own version of masking tape to help as well. They won’t give up on her.
Shattered By You was a bloody great story and a fantastic audio book. I can’t wait for Kite to get his story so we can see how kinky he really is.
