Publisher's summary

Author's note: Although this series is loosely connected to The Billionaire's Obsession series, it stands alone. But this is a steamy alpha billionaire romance, so skip it if you dislike sensual romance and explicit language.

Trace and Eva's story:

My name is Eva Morales, and I was one step away from being homeless when Trace Walker came into my life. I want to hate him because of my past, but I end up making what I consider a "devil's bargain" with the arrogant young billionaire instead. Really, I have no choice. It's either take the work he's offering or starve, and I've been hungry long enough.

I didn't think being his fake fiancée for the holidays would be a difficult job, but it ends up more complicated than I ever imagined, and I see a whole new side of Trace once he lets his guard down. He's haunted by his past - just like me, but there are things I can never tell him, secrets I don't dare reveal.

Eventually, I find myself in a difficult situation because our volatile attraction to each other won't be denied. Should I tell him the truth, or do I finish the job he's paying me for and walk away with my secrets still hidden, my pride still intact? He's paying me enough for this job to take care of myself once it's over. I've always been alone, and I always thought I preferred it...until I met Trace. I'd have to put everything on the line to be honest with him, but he very well might be the first man who is worth the risk. Honestly, I'd be endangering more than just my pride. I could handle feeling like a loser, because I've pretty much felt that way my entire life. What really terrifies me is being vulnerable and the possibility of ending up with a shattered heart....

Loved it!

Trace Walker was keeping it together for his two brothers after his father and stepmother were killed in a place crash. His younger brother was injured in this same accident. Trace had to grow up fast to take over his father’s company as well as be there for his two brothers. He was a man with a lot of pain and responsibility.

Eva’s life had been extremely hard after her mother kicked her out of their home. She was desperate for a job and she went to the one man she thought could help, Trace Walker. Little did Trace or Eva know that their lives would never be the same after their encounter.

Release is a good story with a very well written plot, with several twists that the reader won’t see coming. I loved Trace as the hero as he was strong, caring, and sexy and always took care of those he loved. Eva was a strong woman who had been through a lot, which made her a good heroine for Trace. They seemed to balance each other really well, as one didn’t overshadow the other. Eva and Trace both had great pain in their past but it made them both strong and ready to begin a happy ever after with each other.

The narrator did a good job with making the story come to life. I highly recommend Release which is the first book in the Walker Brother Series.

A wonderful modern day fairy tale

It wouldn’t be a good fairytale without plenty of ups and downs, trials and tribulations. And, of course, in the end, good hearts and kindness triumph over the petty, spiteful, and small minds of the undeserving. Improbable? Sure!
But still a worthwhile, interesting adventure!

excellent narration in this story! the narrator was so good at being able to decipher between characters and pulled up different sound effects for what the characters were doing. I appreciated the boxing sound effects it was a nice addition. recommended!

Great read but fast storyline

The book had an awesome storyline however it’s like they speed it alone. It’s like the courting stage was so fast I missed it and they was moving on to getting married.

not bad but not great

I like the premise of the story. but it feels like that's as far as the author had thought it out. it led off strong with strong characters. but it dissolved very quickly. in the span of two minutes, the heroine was standing firm to the notion the wouldn't sleep together, then becomes contradictory and all but begs the hero to take her. after that, there's not much story. mainly sex and meaningless conversation. I kept waiting for something to happen. but then it was just sex. Trace felt modeled after a porn star: always erect, ready, and never any down time. Eva was kinda the blank slate. no family, a history that was easily erased-literally, complacent, dull, and not much to her except to be the subject of sex.

honestly I enjoyed a very small portion of the actual story. I liked the narrator tho. she was very good.

juvenile

this story is beyond simple, predictable and bland. I played this story out when I was 7 playing with barbies...
the narrator was good.

Such a sweet story

I love this book about Trace and Eva! Eva is such a strong independent woman seeking a little help from billionaire Trace. Trace immediately reconizes that Eva needs his protection and its love ar first sight for the pair even if they don't know it yet. What starts out as a business arrangement to help both of them get a something they need quickly turns into so much more. But not with out a few bumps in the road in the form of past secrets and jealous ex's. If you love sweet and steamy love stories this is the series for you!

Love me a Walker

Going through my ebook library, I came across Release!: A Walker Brothers Novel by J.S. Scott. Yes, I read this one before--I bought the book last 2017 after all--but I discovered that I haven't yet gave my review, so here goes

I love J.S. Scott--she was one of the first authors that got me hooked into hoarding and binge reading ebooks. She was also the first author who convinced me that the billionaire trope was something I would enjoy. So here I am now, needing to apologize for this late review!

Trace and Eva's story is quite a bit out there, yes--a billionaire falling for a woman who spent time in jail? Not likely, right? But this is fantasy, after all, and seeing her bloom into the woman perfect for a man such as Trace--one can dream and look forward to that happily ever after.

I loved the story, and can't wait to meet Sebastian next!

Kudos to Elizabeth Powers for giving the story life, and I am definitely looking forward to her next narration!
