I guess I will be the odd person out as I didn't like the story line. Stanton was a total fail as a father and completely clueless where Sofia was con..Show More »cerned. I just didn't buy into the main 2 characters and how Stanton was heading home to convince Jenny not to marry another man while he brings is FWB and continues to have sex with her while trying to win Jenny back. It left a bad taste in my mouth. And I would have liked to see Sofia have more backbone and not let Stanton treat her so poorly.
STORY (Romance) - First of all, if you're offended by cursing, stop here. Jake, the male lead, has potty mouth extraordinaire. It's like F this, F t..Show More »hat and on and on. I'm fine with it, but it will definitely be a turnoff to many.
If you're okay with the language, then you'll probably LOVE this book. Jake is a sexy bad-boy attorney who only uses women for sex. Chelsea is a grad student whose brother recently died, leaving her with six kids to take care of. It's actually believable the way Jake and Chelsea meet and begin their relationship and even the way Jake is won over by the kids. He's hot and sexy and you will love him! But the best part of the book is the humor. There's one part where Chelsea is sick and Jake is changing a diaper...I listened to it like five times. It's priceless!
PERFORMANCE - Sebastian York has a very low, sexy voice. It's the perfect voice for Jake and perfect for us ladies to listen to!
OVERALL - There's no violence in the book, but there is lots and lots of cussing. There are probably three or four explicit sex scenes, and they are pretty long. I'd guess 30 minutes of sex in the entire story. I'd recommend this book for any female who is okay with cursing and explicit sex. I'll definitely be getting the other books in this series.
It's a sad day when a storyline with great potential is railroaded by sub-par narration. Honestly, I am officially not a fan of Deacon Lee. Unfortun..Show More »ately, this may be the fourth or fifth book I've listened to with him as the narrator. I'm sure in another story, with a non-romantic themed storyline, he's fantastic, but, not this genre, not this book.
The Legal Briefs series has been stellar up to this one. APPEALED was good, it was, but, really, the narration stole the show, and not in a good way. The best part of the story was the epilogue, which pulled everything together in one of the best HEA's I've heard in awhile. I still love Emma Chase, and would purchase other books by this author, but sadly, this one was just ok.
