Perfect!

Chase and Mad are my fav book couple. I'm in love with this story. The banter, sarcasm, steam, it was everything. I enjoyed seeing the characters evolve. Life and Love happens and it changes you. They grew and became smarter, stronger and they opened their hearts. I loved every second of this book. I knew I would!! The audio was Ah-mazing too.

Good Summer Read

Initially I was frustrated with Madison and with the Martyr Maddie name bestowed to her. Later, I did see that Maddie was true to herself and happy that she was able to show another side. Chase definitely had to grow on me as well, but I am glad I gave them both a chance. This book is a modern day romance, complete with steamy, often raunchy dialogue, and messy life situations. I enjoyed reading this book and recommend it.

First time listening to this author and its so refreshing. I was having a hard time not listening straight through. love it!

Forget Pink. Orange? Hardly. Black is Back, Baby.

They say there's a thin line between the dark side and the comedic side. Fans of LJ Shen have known for years that she has tapped into the vein of the darkly damaged, irredeemable alpha male. Her dark anti-hero reads have been a rich treat, easily savored. Now that she's also letting out her snarkier, more tongue in cheek side, it's pure bliss.

The audiobook version, narrated by heavy hitters Ava Erickson and Sebastian York is a sublime piece of work that I will add to my "reread" list. The voicings are fabulous, rich, perfection bringing the characters to such an authentic nature, the listener can't help but become wrapped up in their twisted story.

I can't recommend this novel highly enough. It's got everything a reader looks for in a good romance, and maybe even a few things the reader didn't know they wanted. This is platinum in a world of cheap tin. It doesn't just shine, it's got the strength and the depth a great story should have.

Sweet touching story

Just the right combination of all the beautiful things that Lj Shen writes! Even though I already knew all the reveals of this story - I think I enjoyed it even more the second time around! Shen is so fun and funny - loved the dialogues, especially in this book💖😘💖she is just the perfect formula of everything - just right amount of laughter and tears, rough and blunt meets sweet and tender💖
The big reveal( even though it happens earlier than I remember) is just genius💖

Solid

I put off listening to this for some time. Mainly because I’m not a huge Sebastian York fan. But he wasn’t as bad as I was expecting. (Some of his recent work has sounded really phoned in, and his voice has started to sound older and not suited to many younger parts he’s placed in, and tbh his voice just doesn’t do it for me.) He wasn’t actually a bad fit for the character, but his accents for the other male characters were not good. Ava Erickson was a delight and definitely carried the story.

The story was pretty decent if you know this author’s MO. She has a typical style of having some characters with grandiose wealth as well as some bizarre scheming involved in the storyline. I was a little nervous because the whole “fake engagement” thing came about so early in the story that I didn’t know how the story was going to drag on for 11 hours..there were a few slow parts, but overall it was pretty engaging.

Wondering if there might be a Grant and Layla sequel?

Excellent! My 2 favorite narrators! Great characters throughout, laughed, cried, cackled. Very well written. I’ve purchased 10 of L.J. Shens books in less than a week-one talented writer!!!

Loved it

Was a good storyline and loved the narration! Once it got started I couldn’t put it down. Loved the characters and what they brought to the story!

Beautiful story!

I was hesitant to finish this book considering how much the mmc was awful to her im the beginning but ugh I think he made up for it in so many ways! Beautiful ending & great chemistry between both characters!
