WOW!! REALLY GREAT START TO A FANTASTIC NEW SERIES
This book has everything, ex Navy Seal were-men with supernatural 'gifts', genetic experiments, shape shifters, bad guys, sex and romance. J D Tyler ..Show More »throws more strange characters with weird abilities into the story as it unfolds and they can be brought forward to be part of the story or left in the background for another book. It reminded me of JR Ward's BlackDagger Brotherhood or Gena Showalter's Lords of the Underworld. So if you loved them then you will love this new series I am sure.
The narrator did a good job too.
These books are going to be an automatic download for me, now I just have to be patient and wait but it could end up a series of at least 7 or much more mmmmm delicious.

Great second book to add to the brand new series about sizzling hot and handsome ex Navy SEALS now in a top secret Alpha pack made up of men who are w..Show More »ere-shifters of one kind or another and there's Sorcerers and a Sealy Prince too. They are each gifted with a different supernatural power when they were turned which helps as they battle against evil paranormals.
Aric, a were-wolf shifter and member of the Alpha pack, has been captured and experimented on, along with other members of the team, but there's and instant attraction when Rowen (an off duty LAPD cop) stumbles across him whilst she secretly becomes part of the rescue team and it leaves Aric brooding and battling against his mating urges.
A hot and emotionally charged action packed plot with sub plots filled with interesting and amusing characters who all help to invigorate and bring tension and passion to this listen. This series has a similar feel to JRWard's BDB with quick and witty one liners together with the loyalty bonds formed from the 'brotherhood' fellowship.
Looking forward to Black Moon - book released in December - which is Kalen and Mackenzie's story.
Worth a credit? A paranormal/romance fan's dream listen - so that's a definite YES.
Please don't shoot the messenger - but I have to say that I'm so disappointed that I felt this book wasn't quite as good as the previous ones probably..Show More » because Kalen (a very troubled Sorcerer/wereshifter who was thrown away at 14 and lived off and on the streets) and Mac's relationship was already fairly established although they did have to fight very hard to keep it. Also, there wasn't the quips and funny one-liners between the rest of the Alpha pack which were hardly mentioned at all as Kalen's insecurities grew and he felt he wasn't part of the pack.
However, it was a very passionate and enjoyable listen filled with supernaturals of one form or another all battling the evil dark fae King and his army and the intense sexy romance between the two lovers was harshly tested over and over again by the mental hold the King had over Kalen.
To get the most from this series it's not really a stand alone listen but if you haven't already listened to the other 2 books then it is a worthy paranormal romance series to plunge into. For the rest of us, well we will just have to wait until September at least for book 4 Hunter's Heart (Hunter sees dead people).
Worth a credit? Yes absolutely even though it didn't quite 'grab' me like the others it was still a credit deserving listen.
I really wished this was better... Narration was great..but story was just not as good as book 1, 2 or 3. The only thing I really liked was the white ..Show More »wolf. If you follow along with the series you know Nick, the leader is a born white wolf...so you know his mate is gonna be a white wolf as well. Plus there is already a story there, because every time each alpha member finds their mate, Nick gets all... (hiding something mode)...
The narration was superb, as usually from Kristen Potter...just story was not all that great... I mean it was ok... needed to get to next book...but it felt like a filler book...
Good credit while waiting on another book to release... Not a buy... maybe a sale... a good sale... like under 5 bucks..
I love the Alpha Pack! I hadn't given Zander much thought in previous books, but, what a sweetie he turned out to be! Zander finds his mate through ..Show More »a very different manner than the previous pack members, which was a nice change. Some other new aspects to the series included the introduction of a few new characters that are interesting enough to possibly have a book in the future--fingers crossed! Also, I like where things seem to be heading for Nick, who plays a significant role in this installment.
If you haven't listened to the other books, I'd encourage you to do so--books 1 & 2 remain my favorites, with book 3 really being an emotional whirlwind. Nonetheless, all the stories are great and are worthy of a credit. I had a lukewarm reaction to book 4, so I'm really glad this installment was significantly better than the last. Great series, great author, and hopefully there's many more to come.
