The plots are interesting and the legal maneuvers, while not always credible (I'm a lawyer), are not so far out of the realm of possibility as to be too distracting. One of the best things about this series is the wonderful narrator. Grover Gardner is the best!

I loved this book! This is my first exposure to David Rosenfelt and I love him! I plan on listening to the others Audible has (Audible please get more..Show More »!) and reading the rest in hard copy. This has to be the first time I've laughed out loud so many times in my car while listening to a book. VERY funny! The plot is also interesting. I highly recommend this one - a light, funny, who-done-it read. Get it!

You should read them because they are just plain entertaining. Some have excellent plots (like this one) others not so excellent... but they all are just a fine way to spend a few hours laughing and they are never ever boring. Wanna spend about eight hours doing something fun? Just for you? Buy and listen. A-

The Reader: Ahhh Grover. There is just no better voice to read Carpenter. Rosenfelt changes tenses about every six minutes, and Grover keeps up. Yeah... Grover suffers doing some characterizations... but who cares? HA! Wait 'til you hear him do Larry king. It's a hoot! In some books this would be important and even ruin the whole book. Here no. He so captures the tone and goofiness that is the Carpenter crowd... I pray he will be around forever. A.

Although I've been a member of Audible for several years and have listened to well over 100 books, the Andy Carpenter series is my absolute favorite. ..Show More »The story lines are great but what brings Andy to life is Grover Gardner. His narration of this series is dead on and I can't imagine anyone else doing it. The only problem with the series however is I can't quit listening and before I know it the book is over leaving a void in my literary life until the next one comes out. If I could offer some advice to Mr. Rosenfelt, it would be to write quicker and get me more Andy Carpenter. I would highly recommend this series of books to anyone and everyone.

This is about the seventh book in the Andy Carpenter series, and by now we have come to know the loosely-formed family around Andy. Each case he takes..Show More » on is interesting, and he always finds ways to tell us things about his dog, Tara, and his dog rescue foundation, The Tara Foundation, run by a guy he sprung from prison on a trumped-up charge. The current case takes Andy into mob territory, which is common for him, despite the fact that he paints himself as something of a schlemiel. What initially looks like two local murders turns into something extremely larger. The very end of the book is another twist of our expectations, which I have come to appreciate from Rosenfelt. Grover Gardner can simply do no wrong. No matter what the subject, he has one of the friendliest, most comfortable voices around, and it is always a pleasure to listen to him. These books are not great literature, and they are not meant to be: they are fun. Period. They may be a bit formulaic, but if you like the formula, as I do, then that just doesn't bother. I also like the quirk that Andy is wealthy and doesn't have to work, meaning that each case he takes on has to grab him in some way. If I won the lottery, as people say, this is what I would do with my life. Turning the books into mass-market successes is the icing on the cake.
