Publisher's summary

Cozy up for a heartfelt, humorous, sizzling slow-burn in this marriage of convenience romance about finding love - and home - in the most unlikely of places.

Axel

Rooney Sullivan is sunshine incarnate. Warm, bright, always smiling, she's everything I'm not and the last person I have any business desiring. Desperate to hide a hopeless attraction, I've done everything possible to keep my distance...until a charades game gone wrong brought that to a grinding halt.

Since then, steering clear of Rooney has been impossible. In a matter of months, she's kissed me speechless, commandeered my art career, and infiltrated not only my dreams but my home. The woman who was once avoidable has become the last thing I needed: temptingly within reach.

Rooney

Axel Bergman is a gorgeous grump who doesn't have the time of day for me. Thankfully, I've kept my crush under wraps...well, until I kissed him. Charades got away from me, okay? It was an accident! I haven't seen him since, which is for the best. My life is a mess, and the last thing I need is to embarrass myself further with the man who avoids me like that’s his job rather than painting modern masterpieces.

It seems the universe, however, has a different plan. When Axel and I unexpectedly find our paths - and problems - converging, a marriage of convenience proves the perfect solution. At least, until I'm facing my most serious problem yet: a once-loveless marriage of convenience that's inconveniently become a love match, after all.

Really enjoyed the book

I really enjoyed the book. I enjoyed the peak into one neurodivergent person’s thoughts and feelings. Things I wouldn’t have understood until I listed to the book.

She gets the chronic illness struggle right!

I have a few chronic illnesses, including one in the GI track. The opening scene is so spot on. It’s amazing how much of my life revolves around making sure I know where the bathroom is and being prepared if I know there won’t be one. I too worry about it in my professional life and have had to politely excuse myself from meetings with clients. Thankfully my co-workers are awesome and I have been honest with them without being graphic. They just nod and keep moving knowing I’ll be back.

At first I thought the hero might be an HSP, but what he shares (I don’t want to spoil it) makes sense. I have ADHD and find crowds and loud noises overwhelming. My husband is an EXTROVERT. I’ve had the same thoughts as the hero about wanting to be more for hubs and going out and doing things. Sometimes it frustrates him. But, after 15 years, we’re starting to figure it out. 😁

I think the author does a good job of portraying real people. The only thing the bothered me a couple times was the uber political correctness.

Narration is perfect

I love this series. I was looking forward to Axel's story and wasn't disappointed. The narration by both CJ Bloom and Nelson Hobbs was perfect, as usual.

Meh

This was my least favorite of the series. It wasn’t too spicy and their story just wasn’t that interesting.

LOVE this

I love the real life issues, the solitude of this book in the series. I love the family dynamic and the writing is beautiful. Nelson and CJ narrating this series brings everything together perfectly.

Love this!

Great characters, and I love that they both had conditions that don’t often (or ever) make it into rom coms. The female narrator wasn’t my favorite/sounded too hold and not right for the character, but apart from being poorly cast, she did a good job. The male narrator was spot on.

Love this Forever

I am starting to wonder if Chloe Liese is in my life. The author hits chronic illness in this (I think 4th book) in the Bergman Brothers/Sisters series.

Chloe did a very good job portraying Ulcerative Colitis. The author does a good job presenting Autism Spectrum and I am SO glad the author has given Axel a HEA and portraying that it is possible.

I have seen others criticize the Man Cubs, yet I love Vigo and Oliver AND the connection they have as siblings.

I DO wish the play list with each book downloaded automatically with the audio book because I have found some great new music, yet have not been able to keep track of all of them.

The narrators, Nelson Hobbs and CJ Bloom have nailed this series and continue great delivery of emotions and timing is chef's kiss in my opinion, thank you.

exactly what I needed

I cannot express how meaningful this book is to me. As someone who suffers from a chronic illness who is also in graduate school, I relate to the main character in so many ways. The plans revolving around fatigue levels, the flare-ups, the immunosuppressive medication, the concerns about the future impact our health may have on our careers, faking a smile because we can't let anyone know that we aren't fine, and trying to hide the most embarrassing stuff (according to society) from even those who are closest to us. It was all so spot on. In addition to this book being the perfect mix of sweet and spicy, it was the reminder I needed that those of us with chronic illness are still worthy of love and that everyone is struggling with something whether it is visible or not.

So freakin good- how is this possible😭

Im on a three book bender in this series bergman brothers! Ugly crying so much- my partner just brought me tea and squeezed my shoulder! This one does not disappoint. As usual we learn about chronic health issues, we empathize with how ourselves and others process stuff and we get to hear updates on previous characters from the series. I thought I knew what would happen brooding curmudgeon dude meet sunshine girl.. yada yada… but that wasnt it all. The characters and their issues were simple and complex. The romance and intimacy of getting to know someone for all they are in that moment! The family is sweet and endearing and side splittingly funny! Deep sigh 🥰this story is just as good as the first two.. I learned so much-

my takeaways- live and let live, accept people as they are, all the folks meant to love you are still ahead, keep your tribe close❤️ you can love and be loved and do the work to heal your issues so you can love freely! Man this was good!
