About this listen

Ever since my parents died in the demon war, I've paid my way through life by using magic to con people. It's not right, but a girl's gotta do what she can to survive.

Unfortunately, my latest con has left me smack dab in the middle of a murder scene. Now, a coven of angry mages thinks I'm the killer. In order to clear my name, I have to team up with an infuriatingly sexy warlock whose powers are far darker than he admits. Throw in a string of related murders and a vexed vampire clan, and I'm up to my eyeballs in danger.

But that's not even the worst of it. When I get too close to the real killer, he casts a life-threatening curse on my grandmother. Before, I just wanted to save my own butt, but now I'll do whatever it takes to track him down - even if it means following him through monstrous dimensions.

Because I don't play nice with magic. And when you mess with Grandma, you become number one on my shit list.

I get that the MFC is only 21, but she acts very immature. She admits she ignorant about the magical community due to her family situation, but she never once stops to think that maybe she should learn more before acting on her limited knowledge or making assumptions. Also, they behave like phones aren’t a thing. So many instances wouldn’t have happened if they’d just called and gave the information instead of doing it in person, putting themselves and others in danger. Overall, I had to force myself to finish it.

Also, the ending is super abrupt with no resolution to the multiple side characters. The premise is good, and I was stupid enough to buy the whole series when it was on sale, so here’s hoping it gets better.

No real issues with the voice actor. They were fine.

Reads more like YA

Story was pretty good and the narration was great, however the romance subplot is featured pretty heavily and it feels more suitable for YA readers considering it’s all looks and light touches

More high school than I thought

very good listening. If you like adventure, magic and romance without nasty details this is the series for you.

Couldn't put it down.

the author really should have made the heroine less stupid and angst ridden! Among other things!!!

This book is stupid and makes no sense!!!!
