Publisher's summary

Demon patrol officer Ella Grey was pronounced dead after an accident on the job, but 18 minutes later she woke up on a gurney bound for the morgue. With no explanation for her mysterious resurrection, she just wants to get back to life as usual. But she didn't return to the living alone.

The soul of a reaper followed her back from the grave, and it's not just along for the ride. It's taking over her body and mind, trying to use her to continue its morbid work. But it also gives her visions of her troubled brother, Evan, who disappeared years ago.

The reaper might be her biggest ally in her search for Evan - if it doesn't eat her soul first.

Torn between the instinct to survive and the realization that only death's eyes can lead her to her brother, Ella throws herself into a race against time to somehow outmaneuver the reaper.

It's an ok book.

This book has a great plot that can continue in another. However, I didn't like the repeating the same content either exactly the same or a slight word change.

Good but not great

To me a story is great if you don’t want to put it down, this is not that. Interesting enough to listen to the series but not good enough that I’ll ever reread it.
Narrator does a pretty good job.

No spoilers

I have some mixed feelings about this book. MS Faith dose a fairly good job. The book was a bit slow in spots and I thought there would be more action. However the characters were likeable and the story not bad but not great. This is the first book in the series and that could be why. I will give this series another book and see were it gos. As far as the narrator. MS Landon she sounds exactly like one of my favorite narrators which is very good. She has a smooth voice and fits the characters. She also tells the story with emotion and feeling. A fantastic narrator will without a doubt I will listen to MS Landon any time. Like I said not a great book. Has romance, suspense, some action and likeable characters and a bit of a mystery. I have a feeling this series will improve greatly in book to.

I'm supposed there aren't more reviews

What made the experience of listening to Stone Cold Magic the most enjoyable?

This book had combination of likeable characters, and a really good narration

What was one of the most memorable moments of Stone Cold Magic?

I'm not sure there's one moment I'd remember most. The story as a whole was interesting enough that As of now I want to read the rest of the series but it's not memorable enough for Jayne Faith to be on my favorite author list

Have you listened to any of Amy Landon’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I haven't listened to Amy Landon's performances before but she did do well with this one I'd be interested in listening to her again

Really Boring

From the start, I wasn't into it, but I wanted to give it a fair chance. I've gotten to Chapter 8, and I still don't feel invested. I think the plot might have some merit (albeit minimal), but it's really the poor character development that ruins this one. I don't feel any connection to the protagonist, and none of the side characters are any more endearing. The best thing about this audiobook is that it's narrated by Amy Landon, but not even Amy Landon can make me continue this futile endeavor. My overall impression is that it's flat and boring, and, ultimately, a complete waste of time.

It was ok

I thought I would be interested in this book, but, I was disappointed. I didn't connect with the characters and the story seemed slow and repetitive. I couldn't finish it.

Not impressed

This book was entertaining, but I did not get that, I must finish it tonight experience. Therefore, I got side track and finished a few books in between. So understand that I finished the book because I am anal about leaving this incomplete and wasting money.
This is a post-apocalyptic world where demons invade the world. There are vampires, witches, werewolves, zombies, necromancy and gargoyles. Weather the impetus, which changed the world was a natural product or the results of research by a conglomerate.

Story in a nutshell, female protagonist, Ella Grey has a strong need to help the helpless. Mom, dad, and grandmother are dead. She was left to raise her brother but he ran away. So you know what that means, she blames herself for his missing. She magical police officer, and is on the same level as a beat cop. She was dead for 18 minutes and is low on the magic wielder scale.

Her posse is formed as the story progress. She has a new partner, who can handle a lot of magic. Her previous one was killed on her last mission. She is experiencing side effects from her awaking, but is not really motivated to find the cause, she just wants to get sleep. She does not know what is riding on her coat tails; later she finds out it is the reaper. It gave her a vision of her brother so she is ready to make a bargain to find him. Ignorance can kill you, or in this case bore you.

Considering Ella is not the kick ass female protagonist that I like, the length of the story was fine. The author got right into the action and there is action. There is no indication in in book one or the summary of book two that Ella would come into some great magic.

So your brother has been missing for 5 years. Now a reaper, which is eating your soul, could POSSIBLY lead you to him. Problem, you don’t know how quickly the reaper will eliminate you. Ella is not only a bleeding heart, but stupid too. There are other options.

I would consider buying book two, if it was on sale, otherwise I am finish with this series.

Ope

I don’t DNF books. However, i literally can’t force myself to continue this one and I’ve already read 157 pages. I literally fell asleep while listening/reading. This just wasn’t for me. It’s very slow and absolutely could not keep my interest what so ever.
