Publisher's summary

Everly Holman is between an internship and, hopefully, finding her dream job when she finds an online listing she thinks will be perfect for her. As a relatively new sports psychologist, she's worried she won't find the right place for herself. When she applies for a job with the Los Angeles Legends, the professional women's volleyball team, she finally feels at home.

Wyatt Wicked is the number one volleyball player in the world. She could play in any professional league and had played in many during her career. When the US starts the first professional women's league, she's eager to play on her home soil and finally do the thing she loves most in her home country.

Wyatt's not one to trust psychology in sports. But when she meets Everly Holman, Wyatt not only starts trusting the woman to help improve her game, she also sees Everly as much more than the team doctor. Unfortunately for her, Everly might not be willing to risk her career over their growing feelings. As they both work to establish the fledgling league, they discover that, sometimes, falling in love is worth the possibility of losing everything.

Contains mature themes.

Such a great sports romance that’s not about high school or college students

I loved every minute of this book. It really had a great story with deep emotional themes outside of romance alone, which was perfect btw, and the narration was so easy to listen to from start to finish. Chef’s kiss

Fantastic

This was an amazing story! It had tons of sizzling sex but not just sex it was a crazy cool sports story with the romance and intensity of the problem of story that blended and ended well. You’ll have to listen to know but I don’t think you’ll be disappointed if you are looking for a hot jock sports venue with hot spicy romance all wrapped up in a nice package.

I liked that...

The person who read the story was clear with everything she said. I already loved the story. Nicole Pyland is one of my favorites.

Sports Romance

I love a good sports romance and this one delivered!

Everly and Wyatt make a great team - although it didn't seem like it when they first met. However, their chemistry and playful banter make it obvious and fun throughout the story. Of course, outside influences add pressure to their relationship - personal and professional.

This was cute and emotional and fun... Nicole Pyland serves up another good one 🥁💃👐

We Need More Sports Romance Books

Whenever I see a lesbian, sports-themed audio book, I get it. I liked this book, but it wasn't amazing. the narration was just ok (the two main characters sounded too much alike). it was still a good listen.

Great story about volleyball and more!

As a fan of the sport, i loved this story!
Also the complexity of the major storyline and the lines that got blurred.
Family drama added to protective feelings about the main character which made me
Feel even more invested in the story.

Okay

It was just okay. I didn’t love it even though I wanted to but all together not horrible. Not one I’d put at the top of the list though. It was rather repetitive with particular words sometimes which I found off putting.

Some Things Just Didn’t Make Sense

Everly, team psychologist of a national volleyball team , makes a play for the star player, Wyatt Wicked. Her behavior goes so against the code of ethics with a client and psychologist that I couldn’t finish the book.
In the beginning, it’s clear that Everly needs this job, she’s in debt, yet her behavior makes her one of the worst characters I’ve read. Wyatt is a virgin and Everly happily takes care of that. Then they have sex on the gym floor, before anyone comes in to practice. It just continues with Everly one quarter invested in her job, and three quarters pursuing Wyatt. They make out in the locker room, in Everly’s office, it becomes more of a hide and seek game.
This seems like normal behavior in the book and this absolutely would not happen without serious repercussions.
As the story progressed, the language and pillow talk became too cheesy. Then the storyline became just too unbelievable, and with about two hrs to go, I stopped listening.

Meh

I really enjoyed Reality Check and No After You so I thought I’d be down for this book too. It was disappointing overall. I couldn’t tell, at times, if it was the story itself or the narration that so disjointed. I think it was a combination of both. I actually didn’t even care to finish it and stopped about 3/4 of the way through. Just bored. I’ll definitely be trying this author again since I really liked some other books. But this one just wasn’t for me.
