Decent Book, Poor Narration

This is a decent book brought down by an over the top narration. There’s also a mistake where either the author wrote it wrong or the narrator said it wrong, but they call Larry Bird a famous baseball player.

Enthusiastic

A fun retelling of some classic and obscure monster legends. Told with a healthy grain of salt, the stories may be too simplified for well read paranormal fans.

Plenty of cryptids

Plenty to learn about here. would be nice if stories were more fleshed out but a good listen regardless. Narrator was good too.

It’s alright.

Very informative but a little boring.
A lot more lake monster and big foots then I expected.
I wish they went a little bit more in-depth with a few of the more unique monsters/storys.

Fun and doesn't take itself to seriously

Both the author and narrator have fun with this, and unlike other books similar to this, it doesnt take itself to seriously, poking a bit of fun at some points. Unlike Linda Godfrey who writes similar books and seem to believe all tales told to her, here there is some light fun poked at both believers and skeptics.

If you want a quick guide to state monsters

It’s an alright book listed several monsters from every state but be it poor research or just the cryptid scene itself a lot of the monsters in this book are variations of Lake monster werewolf and lizard creatures. You will find many of the same type of monster even not the actual same with Mothman appearing in roughly 3-5 chapters. Overall good for a digestible guide of monsters but there are probably better options for monsters
