Ug

I am using this for remote learning in the days of Covid, and while it is informative for my students, the narrator is not very entertaining. Plus, it is driving me absolutely nuts how the chapters in the audio do not align with the actual chapters of the text, so I am continually trying to locate where they match up - seems like a complete mess up.

GREAT

Surprisingly coherent considering all the disparate threads of stories that constitute the Greek Myths. A good decent read especially for someone with more than a passing interest but less than an academic one.

Easy-to-understand stories

Easy-to-understand stories about the great Greek myths. I find many Greek approachable and sort of gave up on finding an understanding of Mythology Captivating stories.

Not the best effort

I am a little bit past halfway in going through this book and while I have learned some new things so far there are two things that have prevented me from giving it a higher rating. The first being the mispronunciation of Osiris and Thoth in the Egyptian mythology section. The second being that the PDF has the Egyptian and Norse sections switched. Another slight detractor are the narrators. They weren't the best choice.

Definitive overview here.

Being a fan of mythic and legendary novels, of course, this mythology book fascinates me in a way only few audiobooks have done so. Matt Clayton gave me a definitive overview of it. No regrets here.

Skipping

There is a lot of skipping. Especially in ch.8
Very agitating to listen through hope it clears up next chapter.

a lot of helpful information

This work appears upon cursory examination to be an encyclopedia of mythology rather than a cursive narrative, but as such, it seems quite useful for reference.

So many mispronunciations

If you mispronounce Osiris then you shouldn’t be hired to do a mythology book. The performance is beyond horrible. I couldn’t even finish the Egyptian part. It’s too bad because I rather liked the content.
