Publisher's summary

She's been in a coma for years. How can she be pregnant?

When a coma patient starts to have contractions and gives birth to a baby boy, the child's arrival triggers an investigation into serious sexual assault.

Detectives McQuillan and Blalock are handed the case, while the internal hospital team collects data to help with the investigation.

When Dr. Angela Crawford, who helped deliver the baby, learns that the child will be put in foster care, she and her husband agree to take the little boy in.

Meanwhile, a young nurse, Jenny O'Hearn, helps compile data on the rapist and discovers several strange things. When Jenny is attacked, it forces the detectives to look at the case from a different perspective.

Could a staff doctor, male nurse, or the chaplain be the rapist?

Sometimes the truth isn't always obvious.

A great thriller

Loved the unexpected twist in the end! Amazing read! Fast paced and precise! Couldn’t take breaks so finished in one go!

Interesting

I suspected the ending early on. I was skeptical at first about continuing it but it turned around. I think the cop humor was good, more of that would have been good. Narrator was good. Some areas of writing could use improvement like stating this happened and then this and this, could have been done more creatively but overall good.

Short but sweet!

A truely entertaining novel keeping you interested from start to finish! One of the better ones available on her for free by far!

Good story, terrible narrator

I had the culprit figured out but not the why. Good story. It left something to be desired though. I hated the cadence in the narrators voice.

Also good!

This is the second book by this author I listened to, and also liked. Very good plots, and excellent narration. Can recommend.

Interesting twists at the end

While a little of this story I guessed, there were some twists I did not see coming. Part medical thriller, part police procedural, part mystery. A few points in the story weren't very believable (nobody on the medical staff knows the coma patient is pregnant), bot overall it was an interesting story. Characters weren't well developed and writing was a little choppy, but entertaining.

Could have been great...COULD HAVE

First the narrator is terrible. Male voices are complete joke. It's as if she is channeling WC Fields. The plot and storyline are great and why I got the book even though I knew the narrator was going to be terrible. BUT the storytelling is subpar as well. The author explains everything to the listener/reader as if we have Asperger's disease and don't understand why someone would be upset over something. I'm glad I listened to it because the plot is a fascinating pretty original to me idea. But the storytelling of it really hurt the book. I hope some other author takes this plot and tells it better.

The reading of the book was done well.

This book was a little slow moving and honestly quite drawn out in areas, I found myself losing interest in a few areas.
