Beautiful
The book itself is a beautiful and sad story, with amazing writing. Not as gruesome as I expected, but incredibly dark at times, with twists that left me yelling at my iPhone during the work day. The Scottish narrator does a fantastic job giving life to all of the characters, and made me happy I listened to it rather than read it, because I learned a heck of a lot about how to pronounce things in Gaelic. If you like survival stories or historical fiction, this is a must!!

Great and engaging story
I have always loved survival stories and this is a good one. I listened to this on the way to work and home again and there were many times I sat in the car to hear what was going to happen next.
I liked the boys were the center of the story and of course Quill is a great character. I’m sorry that the story was tied up so neatly and there doesn’t need to be a sequel.
Major shout out to the narrator who was wonderful. There were a couple of places I couldn’t quite make out what he said but that was a small price for the great narration. His voice really put me in the story!
