Publisher's summary

From the brilliant mind of A Touch of Darkness's bestselling author Scarlett St. Clair comes a YA crossover in a darkly unique fantasy world.

Anora Silby can see the dead and turn spirits into gold coins, two things she would prefer to keep secret as she tries to lead a normal life at her new school. After all, she didn't change her identity for nothing.

Hiding her weirdness is just one of many challenges. By the end of her first day, she's claimed the soul of a dead girl on campus and lost the coin. Turns out, the coin gives others the ability to steal souls, and when a classmate ends up dead, there's no mistaking the murder weapon.

Navigating the loss of her Poppa, the mistrust of her mother, the attention of gorgeous and enigmatic Shy, and Roundtable, an anonymous student gossip app threatening to expose her, are hard enough. Now she must find the person who stole her coin before more lives are lost, but that means making herself a target for the Order, an organization that governs the dead on Earth—and they want Anora and her powers for themselves.

Scarlett St. Clair always tells a good story

I love the concept of the book and it's characters. As a St. Clair fan, I feel that the building and exploring of these characters weren't full developed. Each character entrance lacked depth and full explanation of their back story, powers and plot. Overall still a great read and listen just could have had more meat on the bones for readers.

Great story but…

I’ve read all of Scarlett St Clair’s books. She’s such a creative author. Granted this one is for YA or teens I still gave it a go.

I like that the chapters are split up into the different perspectives but as a listener, having 2 different voice actors read and act out the characters every other chapter actually made it a little more confusing for me to keep the characters straight in the story. Because they say words and names differently and lend the characters a different personality when voicing the the opposite gender. It’s just a bit more. I get what they wanted to do with this production but it didn’t fully land on its feet for me. Maybe the 2 actors should have worked more closely together or lent their own voice when quoting in the others narrated chapter. Just could have been done bit better is all.

Overall it’s an interesting story! Looking forward to more.

Great story / Sweet Romance

I found Scarlett after I listened to her book King of Battle and Blood (amazing book, lots of spice, great love story). So of course I ventured on to some more of her books. I love the concept of this book. Very creative and a great story. Narrators were great. I think she has created a world that is very interesting and a fun twist with the Ferryman, I hope she continues with it. This book is G rated but it doesn't take anything away from the overall feeling. I loved the characters. I wish there was a little more depth to them and that they opened up to each other a bit more, I do feel like some things were left a little opened ended. But, I also finished the book feeling fulfilled.

LOVE IT!!!

I really enjoyed this book, this was my first St.Clair book through Audible. I always enjoy Amanda Ronconi as a narrator, and that is why I originally selected this book. I will be listening to more of St. Clair books, and I hope more are going to be coming out and this is going to be a set.

Meh

Terrible narration, weak plot. If I hadn’t purchased this on sale, I would ask for a refund.
