One girl murdered...another one missing...and a medical examiner desperate to uncover the truth in When I'm Dead, the latest Black Harbor mystery by acclaimed author Hannah Morrissey.

On a bone-chilling October night, Medical Examiner Rowan Winthorp investigates the death of her daughter’s best friend. Hours later, the tragedy hits even closer to home when she makes a devastating discovery—her daughter, Chloe, is gone. But, not without a trace.

A morbid mosaic of clues forces Rowan and her husband to question how deeply they really knew their daughter. As they work closely to peel back the layers of this case, they begin to unearth disturbing details about Chloe and her secret transgressions…details that threaten to tear them apart.

Amidst the noise of navigating her newfound grief and reconciling the sins of her past, an undeniable fact rings true for Rowan: karma has finally come to collect.

Good story

Great book. Kept you guessing and wanting to keep reading until the end to find out what happened. Rowan’s part though was really hard to understand even with the volume all the way up.

Kept you guessing

I could understand Rowan's voice but it was definitely a challenge. The story was good but not in my top 10.

Small town dream of leaving

We all wish to leave that small town behind but what happens when you can’t? Parents are successful in their fields which is typical small town parents. But what happens to the kids is not small town typical.

Thriller/gore

The storyline, the thriller part of the book. The way the author was detailed with how the scenes were as if I created a movie in my head. It took a shock in the end.

Hard to hear and understand

Narration was difficult to understand unless it was blasting, like the narrator mumbles. The story was okay but the reaction of the parents and teenagers to a dead body is ridiculous….she trips over a body and her mom sends her to work instead of staying home! Really…who does that! Callous neighbors and town. Weird . Meh …listen at your own risk

Great story! I love all of her books!

I was so excited to get in my car every day to listen to this book. The storyline kept me hooked until the end. I have listened to all 3 of her books and hope she has another in the works!

Very hard to hear

This was a great story and I stayed interested in it but it’s almost impossible to hear Rowan’s part in it

Great story but narrator almost ruined it.

I absolutely hated the narrator for Rowan. She definitely could’ve ruined the entire experience. Her mumbling, and lack of emotion was cringy. Otherwise, great story.

Not what I expected!

Hannah’s books always have a psychological twist at the end that you aren’t expecting! I try to predict the ending even with the cues given and it’s always something totally different out of the blue. The realistic explanation of the crime scene/team is a true testament to the effort she puts into her novels!

Hard to hear

Great story. Female narrator mumbled and spoke very low so it was difficult to understand her at times.
