Publisher's summary

In a bid to escape the incessant attentions of a man she does not love, governess Lucy Hayes embarks on a journey to begin a new post. But when she’s stranded in a storm, her plans go shockingly awry. Desperate times call for desperate measures: against her better judgment, she agrees to a foolhardy scheme presented by a handsome stranger, known to her as only William. But when her mysterious benefactor falls ill, she finds herself unwittingly drawn into his family home in a case of mistaken identity: they believe she is William’s betrothed. Though she realizes she should admit the truth, the family’s warmth and welcome make it all too easy to play along, just for a while. Until she meets Baron Lord Simon Calloway, William’s older brother.

Simon is suspicious of his lovely future sister-in-law, a woman who seems completely unsuited to his self-important brother. As they wait for William to awake, Simon and Lucy are drawn ever closer together. But danger draws closer too, in the form of her unwanted suitor. Lucy knows that when Simon discovers the truth, he will despise her. Now she must find a way to keep herself safe . . . and avoid falling hopelessly in love with a man she can never have.

Awesome retelling of While You Were Sleeping

I loved everything about this book. I love the 90s movie While You Were Sleeping and this is an awesome retelling of that story. The author took many creative liberties and changed enough of the story that I never knew what might happen. 10 out of 10 would read again.

Discovered a new author!

Stumbled across this author after listening to a compilation piece featuring one of her shorter stories. I searched for other pieces from her and found this new release. Enjoyed it immensely. Narrator was easy to listen to and it is a sweet story line.

One of my favorites

I absolutely adore this book!!! It’s clean entertaining and fun. The author truly made each character come to life. I couldn’t put it down and finished it to quickly!!!! I would love to have a book telling Nick’s story!!! I agree that it is similar to while you were sleeping the movie which is one of my favorites paired with my favorite genre, regency romance. It’s a win-win!!! Love it see it as a movie as long as Hollywood does ruin it

Kept our attention!

My two daughters and I very much enjoyed this book. I like to purchase books over 10 hours with my credit and it's hard to find clean period stories that aren't wordy or boring. This book was neither. It kept our attention throughout. Please write more and preferably long ones, thanks!

Nice story

Easy to listen to and enjoyed the narration. Interested to listen to other books by the same author and hopefully the same narrator.

Not Horrible

I liked the narration, the writing was okay, and I enjoyed that it was a clean story, I also liked the old Sandra Bullock movie, "while you were sleeping" which was NOT like this story. What made the novel less than averarge for me, was I found the main characters, much of their thoughts and behaviors, too stupid to believe.

A predictable story

The story was a little dull until Nick Forester came in with some comic relief. Still I enjoyed the listen.
