Publisher's summary

A Space Marine Conquests novel

Supporting the Dark Angels as they battle trauma-scarred T'au, Lieutenant Farren and his Primaris Marines discover their allies have many secrets they'll do anything to conceal....

Listen to it because we've all been dying to know what happens when the Primaris Space Marines and Dark Angels finally meet - and now that story is finally here.

The story: Lieutenant Xedro Farren is a Primaris Marine, stronger and more adept than even the Space Marines his brotherhood is sent to fight alongside. As the Dark Angels and the Primaris Marines fight a trauma-scarred force of T’au hellbent on destroying their former allies, the true quarry becomes clear - the shadowy instigator of a psychic curse that could plunge a string of Imperial planets into madness. As worlds burn in the fires of battle, an unthinkable pact is struck, with the Primaris Marines peeling back layer after layer of deceit to find the appalling truth. Can Farren hope to emerge from this web of lies without losing his honour - or come to that, his life?

Solid book

pretty good overall. the tau parts are really boring up until the last 2 chapters with them, but it does delve into their politics which is interesting. Dark Angel's gonna Dark Angel's so that was expected.

Great read !

True to the warhammer 40k game, with great backstory for the t’ao and space marines.

Decent story undermined by horrid accents

The accents for the Tau are awful. They sound like something from a 1960s propaganda film. This book among others convinced me never to buy a Tau audiobook again.

Twists and turns worthy of the First

The narration is excellent as usual. The story...will have you mad, triumphant, soul-torn, and ecstatic...all in a single paragraph.

Dark Angels

Should be labeled Renegades at the least. Between killing their own kind and colluding with xenos, I don't know which is worse. Traders!

Great reading but terrible plot.

This story attempts to tell of intrigue and mystery within the Dark Angels and Tau but instead just created an arbitrary web of agendas, without any real conclusion. The main space marine character swears revenge and begins some character development, and then basically does nothing the rest of the book. Other characters are introduced, then randomly discarded without any purpose. Here’s a summary “Old Dark Angels have evil plot. New Dark Angel finds out, does nothing. Also the Tau are there, doing stuff but not adding to the plot, The end.” So dumb.

Satisfying

Rough start but satisfying as it goes on, what you want from a Dark Angels novel is covered, the secrets, rage against the traitors, inspiring loyalty at the very end when all is revealed.
Then there's nice insights into a successor chapter, T'au, and Kroot.
I went from bored to excited to mad and feeling betrayed to an utter sense of satisfaction by the end results. Recommended if you're interested in Primaris lore

A deeper story than I had expected.

Here I found a knew level of secrecy about the hypocrisy of the Dark Angels chapter. I also enjoyed the Tau point of view scenes. I wish for a follow up with even more of the Tau and the Dark Angels. Epic potential for more.
