Publisher's summary

A Warhammer 40,000 audio drama collection

The Dark Angels are among the most steadfast and noble of the Space Marines - but their dark secret, the Fallen they relentlessly hunt, always threatens to bring an end to their legacy of honour....

Listen to it because:

The sons of the Lion take centre stage in six audio dramas that reveal the great deeds and dark moments of some of their most prominent heroes.

Description:

No matter the foe, regardless of the odds, the proud warriors of the Dark Angels stubbornly refuse to accept defeat. Descendants of the First Legion, they stand foremost amongst the Chapters of the Space Marines, mankind’s mightiest defenders. None fight with more grim determination than the Dark Angels, and their renowned special companies - the Deathwing and the Ravenwing - are held in awe by allies and enemies alike. Yet behind their devotion to the Imperium lies a dark obsession....

This audio drama anthology contains six tales of the Dark Angels, their missions to defend mankind and their relentless hunt for the mysterious Fallen. Within these tales, you'll be introduced to some of the greatest heroes of the Dark Angels - Chapter Master Azrael, Chief Librarian Ezekiel, Interrogator-Chaplain Asmodai, Deathwing Master Belial and Company Master Balthasar – as they face their greatest trials and darkest moments. You'll also see the Dark Angels through the eyes of mortal warriors who face the Space Marines' wrath after an encounter with the arch-Fallen, Cypher.

Malediction and vindication

The final short story, Malediction, might just be the prefect grim dark loyalist tale. Performances were adequate across all, nothing spectacular but one stood out as exceptionally bad in the Malediction telling.

Great story and reveals secrets on Azrael.

Phenomenal story on Kharn and Azrael, gives you a good idea why you should fear both.

Very interesting for Dark Angels fans.

Despite the first two stories being a little underwhelming, The others more than make up for it in VA talent, and story writing.

Good lore

Good Dark angels Lore! But some segments it sounds like someone is getting a filling, a faint whir of a dental drill in the background of the dictation.

Hit and miss on the stories, poor narration

This anthology was kind of a wash. A few of the stories were fairly interesting and well written, while others were difficult to get through. Unfortunately, they used the same narrator for a few stories (including the last one, Malediction) as they used on Labyrinth of Sorrows. He still sounds like he’s talking around a mouthful of saliva and thumbtacks. It’s rough to get through anything he’s reading. Additionally, that particular story, Malediction, is awful. It’s poorly written, has disjointed character development, and just flat-out isn’t an enjoyable story. The story only functions to make the Dark Angels look inquisitorial, and the last 12 minutes are non-sequitor. Skip it.
