Publisher's summary

The Gladium Province is on the verge of civil unrest as humans and Morgons, the dragon-hybrid race, clash once more. But amid disorder can also arise passion.

When the bodies of three human women are discovered in Morgon territory—with the DNA of several Morgon men on the victims—it’s just a matter of time before civil unrest hits the Province. But for ambitious reporter Moira Cade, it’s more than just a story, and it may mean risking her own life.

Descending into the dark underworld of Morgon society, Moira is paired with Kol Moonring, captain of the Morgon Guard, for her protection. Fiercely independent, Moira bristles at his dominance and defies his will at every turn. Yet resistance proves futile when passion flares between them, awakening powerful emotions within both, body and soul. But as the killings continue, can their fiery, newfound bond survive an even greater evil—one that threatens all of humanity, Morgonkind, and Moira’s very soul?

Love this one!

Love this one! I have read it multiple times but this is the first time listening. Still just as good! I really like Moira. She is a go getter and refuses to back down. Then there is that dark and broody Kol Moonring. He is a secret charmer but on the surface all alpha which he needs to be as Captain of the Morgon Guard. Their push and pull then his realization of what is happening is a joy to watch.

Good story, terrible narrator

I hate to write this, but I could not stand the narrator. I had to listen to this on 1.5 speed just to make it somewhat tolerable. I quit it a few times and then powered through because I wanted to hear the end. The long drawn out narration and slowness of all the words...it was too hard for me to get past and I will not be pursuing the rest of the series unless I physically read the books. The story line was good and I read a few reviews saying the same about the narrator (those reviews are gone now which is odd) but typically that does not bother me and I can get past it, this one I sadly cannot.

Uninteresting Romance

I wasn’t aware when I purchased this that this is actually a continuation of another series. However, it was fairly easy to understand the backstories without reading the previous books. I realize that Cole is supposedly a dominant male in the relationship but that doesn’t mean he should be condescending and belittling. I just got tired of the dialogue between Cole and Moira and didn’t finish. Ms. Kelly, on the other hand, is an excellent narrator. Her character voices seemed real and believable.
