Publisher's summary

Meet New York Times best-selling author Jennifer Ryan’s McGraths: a family as untamed as the land they call home.

Tate McGrath just didn’t get it. Why was Liz Scott, his best friend - and the person he relied on and trusted most - suddenly avoiding him!? When he finally tracks her down, he finds her with a man he knows nothing about and she’s been dating for weeks. Suddenly, he can’t make himself ignore her tempting curves and deep green eyes, and all he wants to do is keep her all to himself. What was going on? Could he possibly be...jealous?

Liz had made the decision: stop carrying a torch for Tate and find a guy who wants to be her everything. Tate had always seen her as honest, dependable, smart, kind.... Best friend, not girlfriend! And she needed to give up the dream of marrying the man she’d loved since preschool and move on.

But when Liz’s boyfriend turns dangerous, Tate steps up to help and soon realizes he’s the cowboy hero she’s been waiting for him to be all along.

Love and Hate.

I have been reading Ms. Ryan's books for many years .She is an gifted writer and over the years I have grown to have great expectations from her stories. As time has passed she is becoming more and more caught in the modern morals that surround us .So much of what I call romance is no longer love but lust.I do not want to know about past sexual encounters of our characters.Lis professed to loving Tate all her life yet she'd referred to having multiple sexual partners as well as Tate .She has been sleeping with a man she is ambiguous about. That I find not indicative of an undying devotion . Modern morals except it is okay to experience multiple sexual experiences. I find the concept sad because we no longer virtue chastity and fidelity. The love and lust should be true to the cornerstones of the story. If that is unfashionable then call me unfashionable I read to enjoy myself ,not, be caught in a moral delima. I have to give her good reviews for her talent and I am sure most of her reader's do not hold my views.Colleen Marlo is always wonderful ,the story good but not great.I just purchased all of the McGrath s Hope one of them makes truly happy.😀

This story picks up where 'The Wild Rose' series left off. I enjoyed getting to know Lizzy and more about Tate. I really liked how Lizzy stood up for herself first with Tate then with her soon to be ex-boyfriend. This story also does a good job of exhibiting what the start of an abusive relationship can look like. The red flags and alarming behaviors.

Coleen Marlow did an excellent job.

Wish I knew triggers before listening

Trigger warning: you listen to the villain kill a girl that audience just gets to know. A girl he’s hurt in the past.

Terrible terrible storyline

Oh my word. This is about a weak female lead, a mean and dangerous man and a lackluster male lead. There is too much hate and malice. I honestly think the whole story could be told in 2 chapters.

I cant finish.. i tried

The narrator has a whistle. i disliked the male version of her voice. The female character seemed dense. The detective gave info the made the villian antagonize the main plot even more. I stopped in chapter 15!

I hate giving not good reviews but I tried I counldnt.😳🥲

not her best

story good but dialog rather repetitive and too "sweet". narrator is not my favorite and will probably just read her books from now on.
