Critic reviews

“The author’s evidence-based analysis simplifies the science and reduces essential elements into practical, replicable activities geared toward enriching a dog’s life.” (Library Journal, starred review)

“Zazie Todd does dogs the immeasurably good favor of taking their happiness seriously. Todd is dialed in to the science of dogs and a thoughtful trainer of dogs. Everything she writes about, you want to know. Wag is a welcome addition to the books geared to helping you help your dog.” (Alexandra Horowitz, author of Our Dogs, Ourselves: The Story of a Singular Bond and the New York Times best seller Inside of a Dog: What Dogs See, Smell, and Know)

“[Cutting-edge] science can be hard to get your head around. So thank you Zazie Todd for sorting through it all, making it relevant, and keeping it simple. This is a book your dog will want you to read.” (Dr. Mark Evans, former RSPCA vet and TV presenter)

Great for all dog people

This book has something for seasoned pros but is easy enough for new dog owners to utilize as well. I wish it were required reading!

Only thing I wish were different is the narrator's pacing, emphasis and proper pronunciation of some words. (For example it's snih-FAH-ree, like safari, not SNIFF-uh-ree.)

I'm just not sure

Grams always said to keep negative to yourself. So I will just say that I feel like much of this book would turn people off of pet ownership, or make them feel bad or guilty because they could not live up to the perfection the author requires to have a "happy pet dog". I myself have 1 rescue dog who after 6 yrs is just coming to terms with being in public without having a complete panic meltdown. He still is much happier at home with our other rescue dogs.
