Publisher's summary

Gotrek & Felix, Book 6.

Fresh from the war in Praag, Gotrek and Felix are thrown into a new adventure when their old friend Ulrika Magdova is abducted. Travelling to the accursed land of Sylvania, the pair face a monstrous vampire intent on claiming Ulrika as his bride.

Listen to it because

It's a classic vampire story, complete with haunted castles, abducted maidens (well, Ulrika) and a powerful creature of the night - but with a typically Warhammer twist, of course!

The story

Gotrek and Felix: unsung heroes of the Empire, or nothing more than common thieves and murderers? The truth perhaps lies somewhere in between, and depends entirely upon whom you ask....

Fresh from the siege of Praag, dwarf slayer Gotrek Gurnisson and his sworn human companion Felix Jaeger are beset by a new and terrible foe in their unceasing war against Chaos. A powerful evil is rising in darkest Sylvania, and it threatens to reach forth and tear the very heart out of the Empire - and out of Felix's relationship with Ulrika Magdova. Faced with the machinations of a powerful centuries-old vampire, can the duo's deadly battle result in anything but death and tragedy?

Written by William King. Running time 11 hours 14 minutes. Narrated by Jonathon Keeble.

Snorey needs a Sitcom

I don't think this is the best book out of the series I've read so far, but it's up there and it's a DAMN good story. Our heroes just finished fighting off a massive chaos army siege just to get attacked by an undead menace. it's amazing honestly how deep this story goes into vampire lore and sylvania lore and this book made me realize how much I appreciate the gotrek and felix books for how much lore they actually go into throughout the series.

My only complaint about this book is that Ulrika kinda gets the shaft. She's basically the main character of the story but gets all her agency taken from her without ever getting a moment to redeem herself. Its pretty disappointing given that she is the most independent and strongest female character that Gotrek and Felix have met at this point, and the books had previously always made it a point that even if she isn't as strong as Gotrek and Felix that she is still capable of holding her own in a fight. Still the book was good and the final battle was entertaining. Definitely a recommend!

really enjoyed it but.....

i love thses storys. but this entry would have been all the more nailbiting if ulrika was a more likeable character thoughtout the series. I love a strong female who can hold her own as the next person but the drama between felix and her as one of the main character points made me not care (as much) for her as i wish i did. I felt more emotion from the dwarfs that died during pragg than i did for her entire arch. I actually enjoyed the countess more in this book than Ulrika.

Another fun adventure

A nice relaxing story, however predictable still worth a listen too. Also, nice insight of the vampire
