Publisher's summary

Book one of the End Times.

As the forces of Chaos threaten to drown the world in madness, Mannfred von Carstein and Arkhan the Black put aside their difference and plot to resurrect their dark master: Nagash.

The original bad guy of the Warhammer World returns for the End Times, ready to destroy the land of the living and begin a new age of undeath. If you like Warhammer, this is a must-have - nothing that has ever happened within the Old World or without has been more pivotal to the future of the world.

The story:

The End Times are coming. As the forces of Chaos threaten to drown the world in madness, Mannfred von Carstein and Arkhan the Black put aside their difference and plot to resurrect the one being with the power to stand against the servants of the Ruinous Powers and restore order to the world - the Great Necromancer himself. As they set about gathering artefacts to use in their dark ritual, armies converge on Sylvania, intent on stopping them. But Arkhan and Mannfred are determined to complete their task. No matter the cost, Nagash must rise again.

Written by Josh Reynold. Narrated by Andrew James Spooner.

Solid

The first half of the book i found it was hard to follow. As someone only incredibly vaguely aware of the places and characters of the warhammer fantasy/age of sigmar universe I found myself lost pretty regularly between the abundance of people that started with the letter "A" and all the cities and states...countries?...lets just say "places" about the book. THAT being said. the performance from the narrator was out of this world great. Top notch and kept me hooked the entire time. By the second half of the book, as the plot became more clear, things started to make more sense as to the "why" of all the first half of the book. Regardless. I would recommend this book indeed.

Good if your familiar with Age of Sigmar

First and foremost, I loved it! The narrator is great! However it does very little in the way of explaining the details of the universe your in. If you know the “Cast” for lack of a better word, you’ll find it’s a wonderful listen.

Fairly enjoyable

Fairly enjoyable book about the undead, however Nagash is sadly not present for 99%+ of the book.
Of coarse when he does show up I become satisfied.

Swiss Cheese Story

I thoroughly enjoyed the contents of this story. I played Warhammer Battles 25 years ago and the principle characters of Arkhan the Black, Manfred von Carstein, and Heinrich Kemmler were champions of my armies, to say nothing of Nagash himself. These protagonists weave a solid story of betrayal and desperation to prepare a plan to preserve their lives rather than save the world.
But almost half the story isn't in the book. The End Times seems to have begun off screen in three events that recieved no novelization: the Bretonnian Civil War, the Grand Theogonist's crusade into Sylvania, and the kidnapping of the Everchild. This is more of an editing failure than one of writing. Seeing the heroes of the setting succeed and fail is a better experience than being told they did, and this book has both.

LOVED this book. Been wanting a book that focuses on Nagash and his servants for so long. Truly excellent story - highly recommend.

Incredible opening to an apocalypse

This is an extremely well-written high fantasy apocalypse with an incredible ensemble cast. The reader does an incredible job voice acting the characters and really brings each character to life in doing so. As a Warhammer fan, I am very pleased with both the writing and the reading, and looking forward to the remaining four titles in the series.

The voice acting brings everything to life

everything is amazing, it would be great if one day you guys also add slideshows to each story, giving us the option of something just seeing different images per chapter
