Publisher's summary

Wealthy wool magnate Tremaine St. Michael is half French, half Scottish, and all business. He prowls the world in search of more profits, rarely settling in one place for long. When he meets practical, reserved Lady Nita Haddonfield, he sees an opportunity to mix business with pleasure by making the lady his own. Nita Haddonfield has a meaningful life tending to others, though nobody is dedicated to caring for Nita. She insists the limitations of marriage aren't for her, then Tremaine St. Michael arrives - protective, passionate, and very, very determined to win Nita's heart. Contains mature themes.

Fun, sexy, & romantic— all good!

Enjoyable listen with fun characters and a sad dilemma that pulls you in all directions. Good story, good family interaction, irritating villains, unanticipated turn of events. All the best in a romance.

Good but different

I didn’t find this book slow but I did have to start it three times to get all the names, relationships and neighbors straight and also who was marrying who. The premise was interesting and I enjoyed the leading characters right until they broke up. I thought they had already decided what was going to happen with her healing career when they married; that they were both in agreement. Then they go to a dance, he makes a remark in a private conversation when she was several feet away (True, he did raise his voice.) and she becomes shocked because his statement is not what she thinks it was. And truthfully I was shocked when he said it too. I was on her side. I thought he had agreed to her healing at least when they were first married and until she became busy with other responsibilities and/or their traveling. The rest of the story had me disgruntled and then suddenly he gets into the fourth or fifth argument about her healing with Nash and there is the denouement, the resolution and THE END. It all happened too fast for my taste. It ended like a box all tied up with a big bow and happily ever after.

Slow start but a great book

Tremaine is a wonderful hero....kind, thoughtful, loving and strong...very strong. Nita is a pain in the neck at times. So stubborn..just as strong. In listening to all Grace's books narrated by James Langton, I've noted the whine in voices of heroine. Finally decided it's how James Langton presents them. Am used to it...now.

Loved, loved, loved this book!!!

This is my 5th book by this author and my favorite above all! It is SUPER romantic! It was sweet to.witness their friendship and respect blossom before romance.
I loved that neither of the couple are the most beautiful people in the village, yet the MMC emerges as the ultimate masculine hero... 😊😍swoon😍😘! Best of all, the FMC stays strong, confident, and true to herself all the way through the tale.

The familial relationships are quite interesting and real to life. Watching the ties come together in the end was a bit unexpected.
This extended family is fun, I caught myself laughing out loud often. I can't wait to get to know them better over the series.
The narration is also fantastic.

Spoiler
I also loved the introduction of a bisexual character. I found this part of the story to be handled respectfully and outcomes true to what that Era would have produced.

Highly recommended.

Horrible

I rarely leave 1 star reviews but this was absolutely awful. I simply cannot not finish a book so tried to fast forward as much as possible.

Started it two hours ago and can't go on

Confusing and extremely boring I find I can not understand where all the great reviews come from.
