Publisher's summary

When my mother decided to pull me out of school, I didn’t say anything. When she homeschooled me, isolated me, kept me fearful of my peers, I followed along. When she packed me up and sent me across the country to live with my grandmother in the one-stoplight town of Lee Vines, I did as she said.

But now that she’s left me here I’m on my own. I can make my own decisions. Make my own mistakes. And that includes if I let in the four boys that live next door.

This is the complete four-book series of Starlee's journey in The Wayward Sons, a reverse-harem YA romance.

Why fall in love once when you can do it over and over again?

Not my usual

It was not something I thought I would enjoy but I love books so I will try anything once 😉. And while it was an amazing cute and sweet story… it was just that a sweet romance with a slightly rushed ending but it was a complete story with lots of teenage feelings lol. Maybe that’s why it seemed so far from my normal book. Definitely enjoyed it

Wonderful series!

I loved these books. The only downside is the male narrator only does a couple of the books, and only the chapters in the male POV. Other than that, I couldn't stop listening to them.

One of my favorites!

This is one of my absolutely favorite series by Angel Lawson. Starlee and the Wayward Sons go through so much together and their love story is fantastic. I love how then narrators bring the characters to life and it is absolutely engrossing and addicting. I couldn't stop listening to it once I started and listened to it over the course of two days because I couldn't stop listening. I highly recommend this story to anyone who loves RH stories.

Novel of the highest quality

Wayward Sons is a coming of age story of the highest quality that follows 1 girl and 4 boys from the age of 17 to their mid-twenties in rural, northern California. Lawson perfectly captures what it's like to be a teenager at the mercy of adults who just don't understand and binary legal systems. Lawson creates characters that come off the page and who will stay with the reader for years to come. As the series progresses, the main characters overcome their challenges and the reader gets a glimpse into their future with an that epilogue that contains a satisfying ending. This is properly categorized as Young Adult but I am a mid-aged adult and really enjoyed this series. It reminded of classic teen literature like Catcher in the Rye and The Perks of Being a Wallflower - not in plotline, but in quality, style and substance. There is some sex but is mild and not smutty. It is very realistic in it's depiction of teens and real life situations. I am a Lawson fan and this series surprised me in that from a literary POV, this is her finest work I've read to date. The narration is very high quality. It credits only one woman as the narrator but a man narrates most (if not all) of the chapters from the male POVs.

Loved!

This book was so sweet! I loved all the characters and how much they all grew throughout the series. It really touched base on a lot of realistic struggles for teens. Overall it was just a really good book. I was only left with maybe 2 questions max at the end. Hopefully in book 5 which will be one of the main characters sister story those questions get answered. Will probably come back and listen to again in the future.

Surprisingly Wholesome

For a reverse harem, this was a wholesome look into the genre. I’ve been reading a lot of smut lately and this was the perfect series to take a break with.
Starlee grew up sheltered to the point of being socially inept but her guys helped bring her out of her shell while she helped the guys get their lives on track.
I really enjoyed the series!

What a lovely series.

This story was an adventure, a brilliant romance. I love the Supernatural framing, and I love watching all of the characters grow together and come into their own. It's a sweet story, steamy at moments, unusual and wonderful and lovely. Well worth a read.

This was good!

There were moments where I was truly annoyed with Starlee and her guys but they stuck it out and made a great life together. Now if only real life was this way; meeting a few good men who want YOU and are dedicated to YOU for life.

Overcoming insecurities

I loved listening to The Wayward Sons series. Angel Lawson really caught so many of the trials and tribulations that teenagers go through. Especially those who are considered at risk.
Starly Jones ends up in Lee Vines as a punishment by her mother, to stay with her grandmother, hoping to teach her daughter a lesson. To appreciate the life she has living with her in North Carolina. Starly had been raised to fear life and people because of bullying that happened in middle school. instead of helping her deal with it, her mother pulled her out of school and had her home schooled, making Starly afraid of many things and made to not trust other's.
Once in Lee Vines Starly meets the four boy's who lived next door. Breaking one of her mother's rules right off. Dexter, Charlie, George and Jake all fall for her, they even discussed between them how they would handle their attraction.
So much happens over the four books that it was great to see each and everyone of the kids grow into adult's, changing their ways and changing how they're behavior all because of Starly.
It was wonderful to watch Starly go from a scared girl to a blossoming young woman, bursting with self confidence. Watching her provide different types of help or needs for each boy's personality.
I also loved how at the end of the fourth book the epilogue took us through several years of their lives, giving us a glimpse at their future.
There's a little bit of everything going on in these book's from violence, bullying, sex, and taking chances on new things after living a sheltered life. I highly recommend this series.
