really I really liked the story

the story was really good gave a unique spin to the whole haunted house / haunted town idea. I like the idea that the author mixed together to different kinds of folklore in the story. The narrator's voice kind of got on my nerves there were times when I felt like he was actually getting into it and then all of a sudden he would go back to a monotone that made him sound bored.

The town

This was a good, old fashioned scarey story.Always invite the man that owns the house along when you move! David Stifel was a terrific narrator. No blurb,I bought this one!

Great story, but too much detail

Very good story, but descriptions of places and characters thoughts were too drawn out… kind of lost interim the moment of the stoey in places because too much time seemed spent on what they Were thinking, or white somewhere looks like, things of that nature. Other than too much description it was a great spooky story!

eerily good

I have both read or listened to several of Bentley Little's work. I believe, this particular book, is by far my favorite. Both the story and the character development was divine. Worth a listen!

beware, some very uncomfortable parts

The book is fine, but there are some very uncomfortable parts regarding sexual acts/thoughts. I'm not a prude, but I fast forwarded.

Classic Bentley Little

The Town is classic Bentley Little: spaces of good prose but more than anything, just good pulp. 7/10 for story, 9/10 for narration. 10/10 for meeting expectation. A good read if you’ve enjoyed Bentley Little’s books in the past; if not, maybe steer clear because there are some specific weird things he often includes (especially with sex) that could be off-putting.

Very good book!

I enjoyed this book very much. The narrator was not the best, but that did not detract from the story. He had a tendency to lose a character's voice at times. That being said, the story itself kept me very interested throughout. The depiction of the characters descent into "crazydom" and their internal dialogue was rather realistic to me. I could imagine something like that happening. Very enjoyable story. Worth the credit.

Good story

I loved the historical aspects of the story in this as well as the author's other books. The only thing I don't care for is the incest themes - but otherwise very enjoyable.

Wow

I have read enough of these books to usually have the ending figured out but not this one!
There’s violence and abuse that I was not expecting and I had to stop listening for a couple days.
All in all it was good but a little to graphic in some parts for my taste.
