Trains, mold, and madmen!

I was surprised at how all the different elements were tied together at the end. The diversity of the characters and unique storyline kept the story interesting. It's an excellent creepy listen.

Sadly not a fan

I have read and loved most of this authors work. I don't know if maybe it was the narration but this one was a chore to get through.

Very much enjoyed this book!

For a Bentley Little book this was very well paced and didn’t bog down as I think some of his other novels have.
I found myself waking up at night and needing to keep listening! I finished it in about 4 days! A record for me!

Very strange

I'm a huge Bentley Little fan, but this story had me perplexed. It was not scary and didn't have any of his usual "weirdness" in it. It was dull and seemed to just go on an on. There were way too many "main" characters and there didn't seem to be any cohesiveness. The narration was fine, just an odd story that I struggled to get through.

Little is a one trick pony

I've listened to quite a few of Little's books, but this is going to be the last. I think he writes well for the most part and comes up with some cool concepts (some work, some don't) and his books aren't bad, but he can't seem to write a book without shoehorning politics and race baiting into it. Maybe I'm in the minority here and most people don't mind eating every meal with a side of "white guilt", but it breaks the immersion and I think he could write better books without using racism as a crutch or throwing in some thinly veiled politics (when theres a veil at all) for some cheap confirmation bias thrills. Aside from all that, the pace is sporadic, but overall too slow. Something horrific and world-changing will occur and then the next thing you know, they've moved back to bland dialogue and forgotten about that life-altering thing. Pretty frustrating.

woke garbage

I've bought and enjoyed several books by Benton Little this is not one of them.
I don't purchase horror fiction to be reminded of all the woke p/c garbage in day to day life I buy them to get away from it !!!
I want to be refunded 1 credit.
