Publisher's summary

USA Today best-selling author, Ella Fields, delivers a heart-wrenching tale of impossible yet unstoppable love in this all-new standalone enemies to lovers fantasy romance.

The king of wolves was more beast than man, more tyrant than king, and so much more than he seemed.

Raised to avenge his murdered parents, he’d been trained and conditioned until nothing but violence and hatred lined the walls of his dead heart.

For nearly four years, I’d done all I could to help my kingdom as we faced the wolf king’s unconquerable evil — hardly anything at all.

As the only heir to the Gracewood line, I’d been relegated to menial tasks that would keep me and my secrets safe.

A chance to do more than fret behind our castle walls arrived when I breached them after overhearing my parents’ plans for my future. Fleeing, I unknowingly raced into a fate we’d all desperately hoped to avoid.

By the time I saw him coming, it was far too late. For my family. For my kingdom.

For my heart.

Before I could staunch the bleeding, the king had me under his giant paw, and one wrong move after another caused those razor-sharp claws to sink deeper and deeper beneath my bruised skin.

I might have been trapped, naïve, and furious, but I still had a kingdom to save — and a plan.

Yet when we collided, the bloodshed, the fear, his atrocities...all of it dissolved like stardust upon the night sea.

The stars had mapped out our destiny, but it didn’t matter what they or my heart wanted.

I refused to see the enigmatic male, the heartless lost boy with a soul beneath the flesh of a monster.

The savage king who’d destroyed everything I loved would fall — even if my heart fell with him.

Inspired by Hades and Persephone, Rumpelstiltskin, and The Swan Princess, The Savage and the Swan is not connected to any other Ella Fields novel. It’s a full-length standalone romantic fantasy containing mature content.

Highly recommended. definitely worth the credit the narrators did I beyond 5 star , ward winning performance . the male narrato did a outstanding job of bringing just the right tone of menace to the male character and the female narrator did the exact same giving each scene the just the right amount of emotion bringing each scene to life. The writer did a great job Of introducing a new world of fantasy and romance in a romance just the right right amount Of pull between the 2 characters . The beautiful fantasy story of enemies finding love within each other under cruel and unexpectable circumstances

Sooo Good!!!

I listened to this audiobook during a long road trip and was so excited each time we got back in the car. It’s slow at first, but gets spicier and spicier. 🌶🌶 I highly recommend it- the descriptions and writing was beautifully done too.

The male narrator wasn't a good fit

I struggled with this book mostly because of the narration. The female was o.k. but the male was not a good fit.

Didn't care for the reading, book was pretty good

I gave the story by itself a three star rating. It was good, but I almost didn't finish it as I found the writing choppy and lacking a lot of details. It just moved VERY fast. I prefer more character building and knowing how they are feeling/thinking. I also prefer more world building. I had a hard time picturing the "world" and everything as reading. Lacking too many details.

But! the plot and story itself was enjoyable and good, had a lot of potential!

However the reading... I think it just wasn't to my taste? they did a fine job but I couldn't listen to the male reader. His voice was just not what I was expecting after listening to multiple chapters from the female reader who didn't give the male MC an accent and so I decided to download the Kindle version to finish it that way. I usually LOVE dual readers, and I definitely love books written from both characters perspectives. But this reading just hit the mark for me. Perhaps more of a "me" problem than a reader problem.

I wish audible would give a sample of both readers before we purchase!

Great read

Really enjoyed this story. I liked the fantasy world and description of characters and settings. If you don’t like corny enemy to lover stories then this book is not for you but I happen to like books like that so I really enjoyed it. I will say the the male narrator is not suited for the character, he sounds like an old man when the character is only in his 30s so that was not a good fit.

The male narrator did now work in this role

I liked the story and I think this book would have better if the male narrator were different. The male narrator is good but does not work as a romantic lead.

Male voice not at all reflective of main character

Female narrator as perfect. Male voice sounds like a pirate, not a prince as portrayed in the book.

Loved it for the most part

My only complaint is the male narrator.. he sounds more like the little creature from the ring “my little precious” that’s all I could think of every time he came on.

Male Narrator Ruined the book

I'm not usually too picky when it comes to the narrators but the chapters when the guy was narrating were really hard to get through. It completely ruined the book for me.
