Publisher's summary

In Watching, 22 year old psychology major - and aspiring FBI agent - Riley Paige finds herself in a battle for her life as her closest friends on campus are abducted and killed by a serial killer. She senses that she, too, is being targeted - and that if she is to survive, she must apply her brilliant mind to stop the killer herself. When the FBI hits a dead end, they are impressed enough by Riley’s keen insight into the killer’s mind to allow her to help. Yet the killer’s mind is a dark, twisted place, one too diabolical to make sense of, and one that threatens to bring Riley’s fragile psyche crashing down. In this deadly game of cat and mouse, can Riley survive unscarred?

In Waiting, brilliant 22 year old FBI intern Riley Paige struggles to decode the riddles of the sadistic serial killer dubbed by media as the “clown killer” - but finds it all becomes too personal when she herself, targeted, is in a battle for her life. Recent college graduate Riley Paige is accepted into the prestigious FBI summer internship program, and is determined to make a name for herself. Exposed to many departments of the FBI, she thinks it will be a quiet summer - until a serial killer holds Washington by suspense. Dubbed the “clown killer,” he dressed and paints his victims as clowns, and mocks the FBI with tantalizing riddles in the media. He leaves everyone to wonder: is he a clown himself? It seems that only Riley has the mind brilliant enough to decode the answers. And yet the journey into this killer’s mind is too dark - and the battle too personal - for Riley to come out unscathed. Can she win this deadly game of cat and mouse?

Dark psychological thrillers with heart-pounding suspense, the Riley Paige mysteries are a riveting new series - with a beloved new character - that will leave you turning pages late into the night.

Narrator had an English accent for American characters!

I disliked the narrator’s English accent! The characters were American FBI agents! It was not realistic!

British writing a USA story

the author is obviously english, but so is the narrator. FBI agent are never referred to as detective. we don't speek in the USA like the english do. other than that the story is great.

Good story

Good story, however, for a character who I would think is going to move forward and have more in her series, she has very low self esteem and lacks confidence in all she does. That gets old. I try to escape that from my own life. Otherwise great story

narration overload

I personally don't like a lot of narration. 75% of this book is just that. The story is a decent one but Riley is a moron.

Narrator does a decent job , I enjoy her " man " voices . But why one with an English accent was picked for a book about Americans in America is beyond me ...I love an English accent but it doesn't suit the characters in this story.

I was gifted a few of the author's books and wanted to start at the beginning and work my way to the ones I was given but I think I'll pass.

narrator's accent needs to match country the story is in!

i don't understand why this is such a hard concept for publishers. if the story takes place in the US the narrator shouldn't have a Brit accent unless a specific character is British.

Needs more editing

I read the original description of the book and thought - wow, definitely interesting - but the author needs either a better editor and/or a rewrite - The narrator is British which isn't a problem but the story is supposed to take place in the USA so why the British accent -

Lastly, Riley IMO is annoying - I get the self doubt, but to constantly put herself in stupid scenario's that are deadly and /or dangerous and then not having the fortitude to even try to save herself and constantly be "rescued by men" is insulting. Yes, Riley is smart, yes she is insightful and yes she is more than emotionally insecure IMO but to constantly understand the mind of a killer and solve "big cases" only to not be capable of helping herself, capturing or aiding in the capturing of the bad guy is insulting.
Not worth a credit IMO
