Publisher's summary

When the movie starts, the horror becomes real.

The TV ads promised a festival of cheap and bloody fright films, all of them thinly disguised knockoffs of well-known movies with much better pedigrees. One film features a family of chainsaw maniacs, another a zombie uprising. In yet another, a cult of vampires lives in a creepy old mansion. The whole thing is hosted by the mysterious Dr. Ominous.

Entranced by the ads, a small group of adventurous horror fans head out to a failing theater in the bad part of town. As the lights dim and the movies begin, they are transported into the worlds of the films, where the screams and the blood are real, and there doesn’t seem to be any way out.

great

as I have said in a previous review, I prefer realistic horror. the killing kind by Mr. Smith is one of my favorite horror novels. however, just as with Freak Show Mr. Smith has such talent that even the more outlandish plots seem somehow real. I haven't found any other extreme horror author with his amazing writing ability. most others in this category just want to throw blood on everything and call it a day, but not Brian Smith. he develops complex and intriguing characters and world's. I can't wait for the next novel by him and I am excited to see what he comes up with next. I'm hoping for a killing kind part two.

Terrific Concept

Always with the understanding there is Stephen King and then there is everyone else, Bryan Smith is easily my favorite out of everyone else. If you have enjoyed some of Bryan's other work, definitely give this one a listen!

Pretty OK but….

Just not that intense as the rest of the books, however it did entertain me for the day at work.

Started out good then fizzled out

I've read better from Bryan Smith. This one seemed almost as if it were written by two different authors with different creative directions.

The narrator did the best he could with not a ton to work with.
