As the anniversary of the murders approaches, Faith Winters is released from the psychiatric hospital and yanked back to the last spot on earth she wants to be - her hometown where the slayings took place. Wracked by the lingering echoes of survivor's guilt, Faith spirals into a black hole of alcoholism and wanton self-destruction. Finding no solace at the bottom of a bottle, Faith decides to track down her sister's killer - only to discover that she's the one being hunted.

How can one woman uncover the truth when everyone's a suspect - including herself?

From the mind of Wall Street Journal best-selling author Christopher Greyson The Girl Who Lived should come with a warning label: Once you start listening, you won't be able to stop. Not since Girl on the Train and Gone Girl has a psychological thriller kept listeners so addicted - and guessing right until the last chapter.

Kept me on the edge of my seat

I didn’t like The Girl on the Train, so I usually steer clear of books with descriptions that include “If you liked Girl on the Train...” This was an exception.

Another reviewer said that there was an early hint to who the killer really was. I missed that clue. At one point or another I wondered if each character was the real killer.

Another reviewer said that there were too many characters introduced later in the story. There were a lot of characters who came in later in the story, but it also didn’t seem strange. Faith spent a lot of time in a psych hospital. She didn’t have friends. Acquaintances and friends of some people who had been friends of the family before the murders came into the picture later on. People wanted to protect her, so it didn’t seem strange that they would shelter her for a time from others.

With all sorts of seemingly loose ends, I was getting concerned that the author wouldn’t be able to pull off a decent ending, but I found the ending satisfying.

The characters had enough depth to be interesting and likable.

This is the best mystery book I have ever read. So many well developed characters.

Had a tough time with the narrator

This criticism doesn’t seem fair because while I think the narrator read/performed well, her pronunciation drove me batty. Not that she pronounced words necessarily incorrectly but throughout she pronounced her short ‘’e’ vowel sounds closer to ‘a’s. This feels petty but I had a hard time listening for that reason.

twisted story

twisted evil I didn't see coming, details covered, everyone possibly guilty, no one to be trusted and yet the one you know you can...

Good story! Narrator needs work

Great story, twists and turns you wouldn’t have guessed. I don’t care for this narrator. I’ve listened to another book she read and will make sure not to read another one she does. She’s not bad, but not good either

Too dark

I felt this book was too dark for most of the time. It was a great mystery, but I just felt it needed some light.

Entertaining

An entertaining listen. The main character was a bit annoying at times as she kept making the same choices over and over with the same outcome but if you want something to keep your attention and if an easy listen, go for it #entertaining #twist #tagsgiving #sweepstakes
