Publisher's summary

In this prequel to the bestselling phenomenon They Both Die at the End, two new strangers spend a life-changing day together after Death-Cast first makes their fateful calls. #1 New York Times bestseller!

It’s the night before Death-Cast goes live, and there’s one question on everyone’s mind: Can Death-Cast actually predict when someone will die, or is it just an elaborate hoax?

Orion Pagan has waited years for someone to tell him that he’s going to die. He has a serious heart condition, and he signed up for Death-Cast so he could know what’s coming.

Valentino Prince is restarting his life in New York. He has a long and promising future ahead and he only registered for Death-Cast after his twin sister nearly died in a car accident.

Orion and Valentino cross paths in Times Square and immediately feel a deep connection. But when the first round of End Day calls goes out, their lives are changed forever—one of them receives a call, and the other doesn’t. Though neither boy is certain how the day will end, they know they want to spend it together…even if that means their goodbye will be heartbreaking.

Told with acclaimed author Adam Silvera’s signature bittersweet touch, this story celebrates the lasting impact that people have on each other and proves that life is always worth living to the fullest.

Lessons in how to live life fully and deal w grief

This was a good book. I would rate it a 7.5. I may read it again in the future. Every chapter changes pov which was difficult for some characters I did not like. It has good lessons in living life and how to overcome obstacles. Slow burn romance, lgbtq +, and character conflict. Sad happy ending.

Yet Another Reason to Cry

I just finished this book and I’m literally sobbing. Adam Silvera does it again to us. He writes in a way that makes you feel like you are in the story, living it with the characters he creates. I’ve read/listened to several other books by him, and I have yet to be disappointed. The way that I can care for fictional characters as if they are real is in major part to Adam’s writing style. I recommend this book a thousand times over. I would recommend reading “They Both Die at the End” before taking on this one, but you don’t have to understand this storyline.

Adam Silvera Does It Again

I first found “they both die at the end” as a book recommendation on a dating site and it moved me to tears. Immediately after going through it I purchased this one thinking I could make it through without crying and i was doing well until that final chapter. Such a great book and such a great series

Heartbreakingly beautiful

A beautiful story that will remind you to live. I fell in love with Orion and Valentino and how they were able to make a lasting, loving connection in less than a day.
As the father of a child with a heart condition, I hope my kiddo finds a donor when the time comes, but just as important, I hope love is part of the story as well.

the story is out of this world

this is an amazing book the characters feel like people you have a bond with and like you are there with them doing everything and feeling the heart break. the only thing I wish is that this would become a movie.

Just as good as the first one

Everything I loved about the first book is present here too, including some of the characters briefly. Just as heartbreaking, just as sweet, just as clever. Silvera does an excellent job of taking care of his readers without coddling us, and with an understanding of grief and love most of us can only hope to achieve. The performances were very well done, with a lot of distinct and creative character voices. I enjoyed living in this world, but am left looking forward to living in my own as well. If you haven’t read the first book, you could technically start here, though I’m not sure what I’d recommend. Looking forward to whatever world Silvera decides to break our hearts in next.

Just as enjoyable and heartbreaking as the first. I’m glad I went the audible route.
