Publisher's summary

Our world is about to change…not from warming, but a final winter.

A volcanic eruption on the other side of the globe is the beginning of the end of the world.

Oblivious to the changes were Ron Ash and his small Texas town. Then a dam brakes and washes away nearly everything and everyone they knew, including Ron’s wife.

Those who were left, found they had to work together to prepare for what was coming…a new ice age.

But the climate’s rapid change wasn’t their worse enemy: The lawless have taken control, and Ron and his group are in their sights next.

Even if they escape, how can they survive in this seemingly permanent frozen world?

If you're a fan of The Day After Tomorrow, The Road, or Snowpiercer, then you'll love this tense action-thriller about survival and hope when all looks hopeless, from USA Today best-selling author ML Banner.

Rated PG-13 for violence.

Previously published as Ashfall Apocalypse (books one through three), Amazon number one best sellers.

Just ok sadly…

Decent storyline but majority of characters are unsympathetic, annoying and wearing. Voice characterizations are just ok with some just plain unpleasant (ie. screeching in your ear). Too much superfluous dialogue that has no relation to the story. Hopefully the author will address some of these concerns in the future.

Love a long listen!

While a lot of the situations ended with always having an easy answer and way out, the story kept me going. Enjoyed the characters. The narrator was ok but always ran out of breath while trying to do different voices, and the voices just didn’t seem to represent the characters. Definitely felt the long listen was worth a credit though.

awful female voice

this is a very interesting book but it is Soo hard to get past this man trying to sound like a female, I almost gave up more than a few times. I really wanted to finish the book but every time the female had a part, I just wanted to turn it off. Was it really to pricey to have a real female or could you not just let this man do the whole thing in his regular man voice? cause honestly this way is Soo hard to listen to for a real girl.

Average people made to survive

I overall loved the story. Every time you get a chance to breathe, the book sucks your breath away again. There were times Nan, Ron, or Leticia got on my nerves, but then I had to remind myself they are average people being made to survive. They weren't preparing for this all along. Remembering this helped me not be as annoyed by some of their choices. I enjoyed this one as much as I enjoyed Highway (read it if you haven't already).

Very amateur

Pros
-interesting and unique story line in the genre

Cons
-the narration is so cringe; the male narrator over acts the female voice. I have second hand embarrassment just listening to it
-conversation is so unnatural; a young girl has a monologue that would be difficult for an adult to articulate
-the actual earthquakes/volcano/ice age is hardly mentioned, most of the story (up until the 7th ish hour when I gave up) is a unrealistically rapid progression of violence

Narrator Killed it for me

I might have finished the book if the narrator could actually narrate When he does his Female roles he sounds like a homosexual truck driver

One must have a twisted sense of humor.

This is a massive, maniacal, mountain of horse feathers. My orchestral sympathy of emotions were killing me. Guffawing, I listened to this over descriptive, bloody arm lettuce sandwich of squeaky voiced “ ladies”. The cartoon chihuahua “Ren” voices of the bad dudes.
We have a lisping bad guy named Shorty who is the shortest, and shorter than the rest… we have Pinky,Tiny, Buster (whose place was busted) Bud, Spike, and Opie. Was there a Spanky???
My emotions sought a simpler release, as my heart was palpably crying out in pain from this ridiculous tsunami of cartoonish characters, laughable voices, and victims of unsympathetic character. I struggled driving down the road on my 4 Hour Road trip, waiting desperately to turn off this flooded mud hole, full of over redundancy, hysteria and overdramatic hedgehoggery. But like a train wreck, I couldn’t not listen. The wolf is at the door, but I can’t get in. LMAO
