Publisher's summary

Country born and bred Miss Caledonia Johnston has come to London during the Silly Season, not to dance and flirt, and please her Mama by making an advantageous match.

In fact, her parents don’t even know she’s there, which is probably a good thing, as she’s fibbed her way to Mayfair to Wreak Revenge on a certain Mr. Noel Kinsey (and sees nothing wrong with that because, well, she’s Callie, and she somehow believes she’s rather invincible, with Right on her side).

Enter one Simon Roxbury, Viscount Brockton, surprising himself when he comes to Callie’s aid...which infuriates her, but she’ll find a way around him to complete her “mission.” He seems nice enough, and his mother is a dear thing, so she agrees to be good...especially considering she’d almost shot the man.

Come along as amused friends interfere, simple plans twist themselves into hilarious knots, and True Love (currently hiding in the bushes, hoping to remain safe away from these two mis-matched schemers), takes a few chances of its own.

Witty and smart

So much fun! My favorite part of this book is the wit. The characters have such a lovely dry sense of humor. They get up to all kinds of zany things, and I laughed out loud several times. Add in the excellent historical research, and this book is a definite keeper. Also, Richard Turner is one of my favorite narrators. He handles the characters so well and brings out the nuances of their personalities.

Great story!

The Bedeviled Viscount Brockton by Kasey Michaels and narrated by Richard Turner is a delightful romp in England when won and lost fortunes at cards and fell in love with the most amazing women! The story was fast paced with just enough slow spots to let the romance happen.
The narrator was excellent! I loved it when he narrated the butler’s story about what Callie has done to Lester!
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and hope you will too!

Wonderful!

This could quite possibly be one of the best books I have listened to, and I have listened to a lot, and I mean a lot!!!! It was great to have a book that had a good storyline and did not center around sex!!! It was very funny and many times I found myself laughing out loud! It was so good that I am going to listen to it again, right now. I also plan to check out the other books written by this author which is a first for me. This book is what a good romance book should be! Bravo!

A delight from beginning to end!

I received a free listen for an honest review. Having said that, I will admit that I read Kasey Michaels when she was first published and loved her ABC Regency novels. I stopped reading her when the trend for explicit sex scenes somehow became the norm. I am delighted that she has chosen to re-write some of her novels in a "sweeter" style (no explicit sex scenes). In The Bedeviled Lord Brockton, Ms Michaels gives us a hero and a heroine who grow as the story progresses. The supporting characters are hilarious and oddly endearing. The dialog carries the reader along on to a satisfying conclusion. Was the end predictable? Perhaps a little, but the journey there was so fun, I laughed out loud more than once. All the loose ends were tied up before the final page and while I would love to see Armond, Bones and yes, even Lester find their own happy ever after, I was satisfied when the book ended and the bad guy got his in a totally unexpected way. I like Kasey Michaels' books. They are always well crafted with great pacing and excellent grammar.

I am always concerned when a man narrates a story like this and yet Mr. Richard Turner did such a great job that I easily could tell which character was speaking by the difference in the voices. His pacing was excellent. I've often had to listen for a while to understand a narrator's diction or style. That was not the case here. His enunciation was flawless. His work added to my enjoyment of the story.

I would recommend The Bedeviled Lord Brockton for anyone who enjoys a fun romp of a book sure to make almost anyone laugh out loud!

Entertaining and Memorable

This is a regency whose storyline and characters will stay in your memory. They are developed well and the narration brings the excellent story to life.

A Fun Listen

This is a fun, quick, witty story. I have listened to it more than once. The author wrote a great story and the narrator did a great job reading it. .

HILARIOUS / NONE OF THE BORING EROTICA TO SKIM BY

A lovely, warm, escape with the added honest portrayal --for once -- of life as a widow and the mother of a grown son who fears loosing her identity as, and the ability to be, a vivacious woman in the prime of her life, living her life to its fullest, as a big beautiful woman.
I much prefer this kind of romance that has more to offer than just the scampering of 20-somethings. I also enjoyed the lack of the seventh-grade sex-ed lesson of what goes where. After reading many romances, said lesson can get really boring, and is often used as a substitute for good plotting.
This just shows that a story can be a lot more interesting without it, and makes it reverent to all ages from PG13 on.
I wish more authors would get this point.

Kasey Michael’s does it again.

This book is absolutely fantastic. The characters are entertaining, hilarious and well written. I loved every minute of this book and the narrator made it all the more enjoyable. I will never pass up an opportunity to read a book by Kasey Michael’s and neither should you.

Delightful with perfect narration

I love Kasey Michaels' books. Her quirky characters and clever humor are just wonderful. But, OMG, this book is one of the very funniest! It has an impulsive, hoyden heroine with more ideas than sense and a heart of gold. It has a very stiff viscount with an irrepressible mother and utterly charming friends. It has a goofy, cross-dressing best friend. I laughed out loud in my car MANY times (audiobook)! I can't remember enjoying a book this much in a long time. The Bedeviled Viscount Brockton is sweetened revision of an older, sexier Michaels book. The spicy bits were not at all necessary to enjoy this book. Delightful!

Richard Turner is an outstanding narrator. His precise English diction is perfect for a Regency romance. I could feel the tongue-in-cheek humor.
