Publisher's summary

If you are a man that wishes to become more grounded and present—in relationship, socially, or at work—then this is the audiobook for you. It will show you how this is possible through the daily practice of Youngblood's specially designed embodiment exercises.

In fact, this is the number one thing that men can do to build their Masculine core. The practices are designed to ground and settle you at the nervous system level, where trauma and anxiety reside. When this happens, your reactivity—in the form of defensiveness, withdrawal, hiding, and blame—begins to subside. You are freed up to live life as a more powerful, relational man. One whose relationship has more loving, more sexuality, and more respect, with less fighting, criticism, and angst.

This is the follow up to the author's highly acclaimed The Masculine in Relationship, which offers a three-part blueprint on how men can build their Masculine core.

Connecting in the midst of conflict

GS wrote this as a way to put into action the ideas of his first book masculine in relationship (must read).

The issue for many men (especially if you are an information worker like me) is that you become physically disconnected and don’t even know it. I never understood there could be a mind body disconnect, but there can and it absolutely limits both the ability to experience and the ability to connect. I never understood the term presence until getting into this type of work.

This book focuses on the relational aspect of embodiment and is filled with practices. He warns at the beginning that it is not as jammed packed with information on analysis of the problem, rather this is focused on practices. These embodiment practices are designed to help you to maintain your masculine frame and connectedness during interpersonal conflict.

Think of it like emotional weightlifting in advance of an upcoming fight. When you prepare by the lifting, you’ll perform better when it matters most.

Very boring. This first book was fantastic.

Long winded. Rambling on. The first book was fantastic. Way to ruin the momentum. Sadly can’t return it.
