Publisher's summary

Marriage is hard enough for the everyday civilian. But imagine marriage when you’re separated by thousands of miles, when one of you daily faces the dangers of combat, while the other shoulders all the burden of home-front duties. Add to that the unpredictable schedules, frequent moves, and the challenge of reintegration, and it’s no wonder military marriages are under stress.

Guided by input from dozens of military couples in all stages of their careers, authors Gary Chapman and former military wife Jocelyn Green offer you an unparalleled tool for navigating these challenges. Adapted from the number one New York Times best seller The 5 Love Languages, this military edition helps heal broken relationships and strengthen healthy ones.

With an updated Q&A section specific to military marriages, stories of how military couples have adapted the five love languages to their unique lifestyles, and tips for expressing love when you’re miles away, The 5 Love Languages: Military Edition will take you on a well-worn path to marital joy, even as you face the pressures of serving your country.

The challenges of military marriages are unique, but they don’t have to hinder love. Learn how to keep yours healthy and flourishing.

Great for everyone with some added military tips

Very good valuable information. This will help you with real life situations of things that happen in each love language and give you some ideals of what you can try. It has real life military couple’s experiences that you can relate to if you are military. Even if you are not in the military the information is super valuable it just has added tips for military members who may just blame military demands and being away.

Feel very relatable

As you hear the stories of each person you feel like as a spouse you can connect with at least one or maybe multiple ones. But the book does a great job of telling you how each of them can reconnect. It has plenty suggestions but you will also have to get creative on your own. Wish lot more people knew about this book and I wish I had read it sooner.

Easy to understand

Sometimes books regarding this topic can be overwhelming and difficult to understand. This book is an easy read and has some very interesting information. This books talks about both spouses doing their part which was a breath of fresh air concerning in my experience the blame and the fixer always has to be on the wife. Only down side is the narrator is not jam he didn’t do a bad job but I didn’t find it to be as good as others.

Great for military couples going through deployment

I love how at the end of each chapter, the author has a section entitled, decoding deployment. He gives tips of how a military couple can express each love language while one spouse is deployed.

Should be a required read before marriage!

This book is amazing. People don't understand how hard it gets being military and in a relationship. Doesn't matter if you apply this to your children or your partner, learning others love language is so important. I made my children take the quiz and now I realize the things I was doing wrong as a mother. I also asked my husband to read the book after I finished it. Him and I have been to marriage counseling, we had separated and got back together to try again and it wasn't working out the way we thought it would. I was desperate for answers on how to change and find out what I was doing wrong. He read the book in less then a week. It has completely changed how we act towards each other and how we speak. Its absolutely a relationship saver.
